BOTTLE vCARRIER AND CONVEYER.
Specification of Letters Patent.

Application iled January 11, 1917. Serial No. 141,800.
Tou/ZZ w/wm t may] concern.'
Beit known that I, BENJAMIN E. L1N- roor, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city `and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful BottleCarrier and Conveyer, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of a ycarrier and conveyer for bottles to be washed, soaked, or otherwise cleansed in which certain members of the device arev yvastly strengthened and simplied in construction, and other novel features are presented, as will be heref inafter fully set forth.
The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accompanying drawing, but the important instrumentalities thereof maybe varied, and so'it is to be understood that vthe invention isl not limited'to the specific details shown and described. l f
Figure l represents a plan view of a bottle carrier and conveyer embodyingmy invention.
Fig. 2 thereof.
Fig. 3 represents a transverse vertical sec tion on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4; represents a perspective view of one of the supporting columns employed.
Fig. 5 represents a perspective view of the bottom member of the frame of the device.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings 1 designates the top of the frame of the device, the same being depressed at intervals forming the conical openings 2 for bottles, as will be hereinafter more fully explained.
3 designates the bottom of the frame of the device, the same having struck up at intervals, the tubular collars 4f which telescopically receive and guide the tubular movable sleeves 5, whose upper portions are flaring and provided with inturned shoulders or necks 6, on which the mouths of bottles inserted in the openings 2 may be rested, said sleeves 5 being sustained on the coil springs 7 which surround said sleeves and the collars l and are supported on the bottom 3 and bear upwardly against the flanges S on the upperends of the sleeves 5, whereby the latter are resiliently sustained on said springs and are adapted to yield downwardly when the sleeves are subjected to pressure from above.
represents a longitudinal section Attentionv is drawn to the fact that a primary holder for the bottles is placed above the openings2, a form of which is shown in the Letters Patent No. 1,171,128, granted to me on the 8th vday of February, 1916, but to which I do not limit myself, it being noticed that wheny the bottles in inverted position are placed in thc holder their mouth pieces are--inserted through the openings 2 and rested resiliently on the necks 6 as cushions, whereby they are prevented from breaking and should the bottles be 4of different and greater lengths, the sleeves 5 will yield downwardly and so accommodate themselves to such bottles.` In
this condition of affairs thedevice with ytheV holderis introduced into a washing machine or soaker for the bottles, so as to cleanse the latter. Y Y
lAttention lis directed also to the fact thatV the collars 4 are integrallwith thel bottom 3, andthe latter forms a continuous piece of metal or material throughout the length of the frame, thus simplifying the construction of said bottom. Furthermore, said sleeves are within said collars, so that the joints of the collars and sleeves are on the exterior of the sleeves, leaving the latter and said collars unobstructed throughout their length and preventin the water from leaking downwardly in sai joints.
The top and bottom of the frame are connected by the bolts 9 which extend vertically through said top and bottom and are tightened by the nuts 10, and through heads or columns 11 of metal or other suitable material, they being interposed at intervals between said top and bottom and held tightly in contact with the same, they having tube like members 12 therein to receive said bolts 9, and being made hollow for purpose of lightness and inexpensiveness.
Rising from the sides of the bottom 3 of the frame are the walls 15 which comprise portions of the sides of said frame. Bearing against said walls are the arms 13 which depend from the sides of the top 1 of the frame and are upturned from below forming the loop-shaped members 14 which bear resiliently against said walls causing the latter to press against the columns or heads 11 and assist in retaining them in position, said members extending longitudinally along the frame, as shown by the dotted lines Fig. 1, serving also to strengthen the sides of the top of the frame.
Having thus described invention what Y.
I claim as new and desire to ksecure by Letters Patent, is :J-V
l. In a bottle carrier and eonveyer ofv the character stated, a frame oomposed `of a top and bottom, and means for Connecting the same, said top having' therein openings forthe inlet of the mouth .of aV bottle, ak resilient tubular support for the bottle below said openings, and a tubular collar rising from said bottom, said support being tele seopieally litted to saidV collar on the interior thereof.
' collar teleseopically Containing said sleeve within the same.
.3. In a bottle carrier and eonveyer of the Character stated, a frame composed of a top and bottom, and means for connecting' the same, and a oolumnslike member` interposed between'said bottom and top and secured thereto, said top having on .its side and a resiliently-'supported sleeve telescopically fitted in said collar, a column-like member interposed between said top and bottom adapted to sustain. said top, and means in said member secnred to said bottom .and top for Clamping together said top, bottom, and` Column-'like member.
. 5.. In a' bottle carrier and eonveyer of the character stated, a frame composed of a top and a bottom, means interposed between said bottomy and top for sustaining the lat# ter and clamping the same with the interposed means, a series of `openings in said top, a series of collars rising from said'bottom, and a series of resiliently-supported sleeves telescopically itte'd in said Collars and extending downwardly from the walls of said openings, said bottom being continuons from collar tov collar, and said collars being integral with said'bottom.
