To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUY O, 1 IENKLE, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Concrete-Block Molds, ,of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in the art of plastic block and earthenware apparatus and has particular reference to improvements in block molds. U i
The primary object of my invention is to provide a device of the class described which may be employedfor forming a plurality of concrete blocks or the like simultaneously, the mold being of the knock-down type facilitating removal of the articles formed therein after hardening.
Another object of my invention is to provide a mold of the class described which will permit the formation ofbuilding block and the, like with either curved or straight surfaces, the construction of the mold permitting formation of a block of any curvature within certain limits.
A further object of'my invention is to provide a mold of the class described, simple in construction, strong and durable and capable of a wide range of adjustment for producing various sizes of blocks or the like.
Other objects and advantages to be derived from the use of my improved mold will appear from the following detail description and the claims, taken with an inspection of the accompanying drawings, in

The end frames 1 and 2 serve to support'the body of the mold by means of a plurality of longitudinally arranged parallel spaced angle-irons 3, bolts 4: having threaded engagement as at 5 with said angle-irons extending through the upper portions of the end frames 1 and 2 and having polygonal heads 6 thereon for a purpose which will hereinafter appear. Any number of the angle-irons and bolts may be prov vided, five being shown in the drawing.
The angle-irons serve to support a base 7 formed of sheet metal, in the present instance. Of course, .the base 7 may be formed of wood, if desired, however,the metal base is provided because of the resiliency of the same permitting curvature of the mold when forming curved blocks and the like. 7 i
Itwill be seen from an inspection of Figs. 1 and "8 that the bolts 4 extend through the base plate 7 thereby serving 'to-r'etain the same in position. The plate 7 has been broken away in Fig. 4 to permit the angleirons to appear.
i r The sides of my improved mold are designated 8 and 9, said sides being provided with a plurality of vertically arranged recesses 10 and 11, respectively, said recesses being relatively in'alinement to receive a' plurality of partitions 12 and end walls 13 and'l l. A plurality of tongues 15 and 16' carried by the side walls 8 and 9 engage the end portions of the end frames to retain-the sides 8 and 9 against accidental displace ment. ing curved objects I provide partitions similar to the partitions 12 hereinbefore de scribed with the exception that these partitions are curved, one of the same being best shown in Fig. 5 and designated 23. The partition 23 is provided on one face thereof with a flange 24L, this for the purpose of forming a recess in the block or object molded.
Of course, when the curved partitions are employed the bottom of the device must also be curved; To curve the bottom plate 7 the outermost of the bolts 4 are tightened drawing the outermost angle-irons into position out of alinement with the innermost angleironsthereby curving the bottom 7 into conformity with the curvature of the partitions 23, of which there are a plurality forming both the intermediate partitions and the end walls. In order to swing the sides 8 and 9 inwardly, the wing nuts 19 are disengaged from the bolts 17 which are then moved vertically. When these bolts are in this position it will be apparent that the sides may be moved laterally owing to the slots 17 in the angle irons through which the bolts 17 extend. The wrench 25 having a handle 26 and a socket 27 is employed for operating the bolts 1. The flexibility of the bottom plate 7 permits the wide rangeof adjust ment necessary in a device of this character, it being unnecessary to remove the base each time and substitute the same with a different size base.
My invention may be cheaply constructed all of the parts being formed from stock material which may be obtained at small cost. Of course it will be understood that by substituting the transverse divisional partitions of my improved mold with longitudinal partitions the mold may be adapted for use as a fence post mold. From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it is thought that a clear and comprehensive understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of my invention may be had,
and while I have shown and described my invention as embodying a specific structure, I desire that it be understood that such changes may be made in said structure as do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A mold comprising end frames, a plurality of longitudinal parallel'members engaging the end frames, a flexible bottom secured to the longitudinal members, means for flexing the same, partitions extending transversely across said bottom, angularly movable sides mounted at the edges of the bottom, and means for retaining'thesides i various angular positions.
2. A mold of the class described, including a body formed with end frames, a base plate, supporting elements carried'by said end frames to engage said plate, side members movably mounted on certain of said supporting elements, and means for clampingly associating the side members with the supporting elements on whiclrthey are mounted.
8. A mold comprising end frames, a plurality of longitudinal parallel members engaging the same, a flexible bottom arranged on the longitudinal members,means for flexing the same, angularly movable sides mounted at the edges of the bottom, a plurality of longitudinally curved partitions extending transversely across the bottom, and means for retaining the sides in such angular position.
l. A mold comprising end frames, a plurality of longitudinal parallel members engaging the same, a flexible bottom mounted on the parallel members, adjusting bolts extending through the end frames for flexing the bottom, sides arranged at the opposite edges of the bottom and capable of being moved to angular positions, a plurality of longitudinally curved partitions extending transversely across the bottom, and means for retaining the sides in such angular positions. p V
