JESSE cl crrsrrnLL, on
csnrarnen-cm Application-filed November 18, 1916. Serial No. 182,215.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jnssr. C. CHAPPELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Samantha, in the county of Tuscaloosa and State of Alabama, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cartridge-Carriers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to cartridge clips or carriers, and it has for its object to produce a device of this class of simple and improved construction which may be readily applied to the trigger guard of a shot gun, thereby enabling several cartridges to be conveniently carried in a suitable position to be available for quick reloading.
A further object of the invention is to produce a cartridge clip or carrier of simple and improved construction which may be easily and quickly applied to or detached from the trigger guard ofa gun.
With these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature of the invention is readily understood, the same consists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing has been' illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitationis necessarily made to the precise details of construction therein exhibited, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claim may be resorted to when desired.
In the drawing,
Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing a portion of a shot gun including the tr1gger guard to which the improved cartridge clip has been applied.
Fig. 2 is a side view of the clip, detached.
Fig. 3 is an end view of the same.
Fig. 4- isa sectional view taken on the line H in Fig. 3.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented 0017. 2, 1917.
The body of the improved device consists of a resilient plate 15 having approximately U-shaped spring clamps 16 secured on the under face thereof by means of rivets 17 or other suitable fastening means. Securely connected with the plate 15 and extending upwardly therefrom are clamp members 18 having terminal hooks 19 adapted to engage a trigger guard 20, as seen in Fig. 1, said clamp members having shanks 21 that are apertured for the passage of a-clamp bolt 22. When the nut 23 of the clamp bolt is loosened, the clamp members may be sprung apart to enable the hooks 19 to be place in engagement with the trigger guard 20, where the device is firmly secured by tightening the nut 23. The spring clamps 16 are suitably constructed to retain cartridges, as seen at 24-, Fig. 1.
The improved device, as will be seen from the foregoing description, is extremely simple in construction, and it may be in a moments time applied to or detached from the trigger guard of the gun, enabling the cartridge holder to be carried separately" from the gun when desired.
Havin thus described the invention, what is claime l as new, is:-
