The principal object of my invention is the prtiduetion of a device of the chart'cter described in which metztl blanks, or plates, are deposited in a holder by the eper'ator at 8- point remote from the stamp or punch of the press machine and immediately there afte1'.meehanically moved to and depgisited uponthe die ahead of the descending stampwhereby all danger to-the fingers and hsmds of the operator is eliminated.

The numeral 44 indicates a lever rigidly mounted upon the shaft 9 and connected at its outer end with the actuation rod 45 which is adapted. to oscillate said lever, as hereinafter described, thereby partially rotating said shaft for relieving the arms 28 and 29 of the restraint of the chains 38 and 39,.
In operation,-the blank to be stamped is placed tithe pan or holder 12, .the blank edge sliding into engagement with the stop finger 23. Normally the stop arms 28 and 29 are retracted by the chains 38'and 39, as indicated by-the dotted lines of said arms in Fig. 2, and the inward movement of said stop arms is timed to occur prior to the pro jection of the blank from the pan 12. Closely following the inward movement of said stop arms 28 and 29 the levers 20 and 18 are oscillated by the vertical actuation of the rod 21, thereby retractingv the point of the stop finger 23 from the aperture 22 and tilting the pan 12 upward and forward, whereby the blank carried in said pan is projected therefrom upon the guideway 7 and 8 and thence to the die 5, beingv stopped and held in position upon the die by the arms 28 and 29.
The numeral 46 indicates a shaft suitably mounted in the 'base of the press (not shown). or in any other suitable manner, and upon which are pivotally mounted the driver arms 47 and 48, the forked outer ends whereof are operatively connected with the lower endsof the rods 21 and45, respectively. The-numerals 49 and 50 indicate coil tension springs connected with the arms 47 p and 48, respectively, both of which springs are anchored in a base member 51 or to the base of the press, the latter not being shown. The inner ends, or opposite extremities, of the-arms 47 and 48 are arranged beneath the driver disk shaft 52 and are normally; held in contact therewith by the;tension of the springs 49; and 50,.said

Thenumeral 53 indicates a driver disk, or cam pin carrier rigidly mounted upon the shaft 52 upon the opposite lateral peripheries whereof are rigidly mounted the laterally projecting cam pins 54 and 55, respectively, arranged in different disk radial planes and adapted to be moved by the rotating disk 53 into successive engagement with the arms 48 and 47, r espectively,. for effecting the successive depression movements thereof, whereby the levers 44,18 and 20V are oscillated. The numeral 5'6 indicates a tooth. clutch member rigidly mounted upon=one.,end of the shaft52 and adapted to be engaged bythe clutch member 57 which is splined upon thedriving shaft 58 and adapted-to be. shifted back imdforth thereonsby any suitable shifting mechanism. The numeral 59, indicates .a drivin sprocket wheel rigidly mounted on the driving shaft 58 and engaged by a sprocket chain 60 operative-1y connected with an initial driving sprocket wheel v(not shown) for transmitting power to the shaft 58. 1

From the foregoing description it isevident that the rod 45 isupwardly actuated by the cam pin 55 prior to theactuation of theyarm 47 by the pin 54,"thereby oscillate ing the lever 44 and partially rotating the shaft.9,. whereby both levers 40 and 41 are oscillated toward the fingers 28 and29'and relievingthem of the tensionor restraint of the chains 38 and 39. Thereupon, the ex ertion ofthe springs 32 and 33 closes the stop fingers .28 and 29 against the die. 5; Immediately thereafter the cam pin, 54 actuates the rod 21, whereby the levers l8 and 20 are oscillated and thestop fingers 23 moved downward and out' of the panreeess 22, whereby the pan 12 ismov'ed forward and rear end thereof upwardly tilted discharging the blank upon the guides 7 and 8. When the arms 47 and 48 are relieved of the exertion of the- disk pins 54 and 55 theyare retracted by thesprings 49 and-50, whereby the fingers 28- and 29 are retracted by the'chains 38 and 39 and the pan 12 is restored to its original position,;with the stop finger point again projecting through the pan recess 22. Following the retraction of the fingers 28 and 29, as indicated by the dotted lines thereof in Fig.v 2, thepressed and finished disk or plate is discharged from the die and forwarded, said fingers being retracted to permit of the passage of the disk in its'finished state.

In a device of the class described and in combination with the guideway for delivering blanks in the path of the machine stamp, a movable and tiltable blank receiving pan having one end thereof slidably mounted adjacent one end of said guideway; a retractable stop finger for confining the blank with in the pan prior to the tilt thereof; mechanism for tilting and forwardly projecting said pan to discharge the blank upon said guideway said mechanism including devices for retracting said stop finger to permit the discharge of the blank from said pan; and means for retracting said pan.

In a device of the class described and in combination with the guideway for delivering blanks in the path of the machine stamp, a movable and tiltable blank receiving pan having one end thereof slidably mounted adjacent one end of said guideway; a retractable stop finger for confining the blank within the pan prior to the tilt thereof; periodically operating mechanism for tilting and forwardly projecting said pan to discharge the blank upon said guideWay, said mechanism including devices for retracting said stop finger to permit the discharge of the blank from said pan; and resilient means for retracting said pan, said pan retracting means being cooperative with means for confining the forward end of said pan upon its mount.

In a device of the class described and in I combination with theiguideway for delivering-blanks .in the path of the machine stamp, a movable and tiltable blank receiving pan having one end thereof slidably mounted and resiliently restrained adjacent one end of saidguideway; a retractable stop finger for confining the blank within the pan prior to the tilt thereof; periodically operating mechanism for tilting and forwardly projecting said pan to discharge the blank upon said guideway, said mechanism including devices for retracting said stop finger to permit the'discharge of the blank from said pan; and means for retracting said pan, said means including devices for restoring said stop finger 'to the stop position.

In a device of theclass described and in combination with the guideway for de livering blanks in the path of the machine stamp, a blank receiving pan having one end thereof slidably mounted upon one end of said guideway and having its opposite end carried by an oscillatory lever adapted to be oscillated in a vertical plane for tilting and forwardly projecting said pan; periodically operating means connected with said lever for oscillating it in a vertical plane; spring actuated means for effecting a retraction of said lever, and thereby said pan; and resilient means connected with said pan for confining it upon said guideway.
7. In a device of the class described and in combination with the guideway for delivering blanks in the path of the machine stamp, an inclined blank receiving pan having one end thereof slidably mounted upon said guideway and having its other end carried by an oscillatory lever adapted to be oscillated in a vertical plane for tilting and forwardly projecting said pan; means for resiliently confining said pan upon said guideway; a stop finger having one end thereof carried by said lever and its outer end projecting above the floor of said pan, said finger being movable with said lever; periodically operating means connected with said lever for oscillating it in a vertical plane; and means for retracting said lever, and thereby said pan.

In a device of the class described and in combination with the guideway for delivering blanks in the path of the machine stamp, a blank receiving pan having one end thereof slidably mounted adjacent one end of said guideway and having its other end carried by an oscillatory lever adapted to be oscillated in a vertical plane for tilting and forwardly projecting said pan; periodically operating means for oscillating said lever said means comprising an arm connected with said lever, a rod connected with said arm, a lever arm pivotally mounted intermediate its extremities and operatively connected at one end with said rod, and a rotary cam member periodically engaging the lever arm for depressing it; and means for retracting said oscillatory lever, and thereby said pan.

In a device of the class described and in combination with the guideway for delivering blanks in the path of the machine stamp, a blank receiving pan having one end thereof slidably mounted adjacent one end of said guideway and having its other end carried by an oscillatory lever adapted to be oscillated in a vertical plane for tilting and forwardly projecting said pan; periodically operating means for oscillating said lever said means comprising an arm conconnected at one end With said rod, and a rotary cam member periodically engaging the lever arm for depressing it; and resilient means connected With said lever arm for retracting it, and thereby said oscillatory lever and said pan.
