DISPENSING DEVICE.

EDWARD RITZ, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DISPENSING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented; A110. 28, 1917.
Application filed May 23, 1916. Serial No. 99,298..
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDW'ARD Rrrz, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dispensing Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in dispensing devices and more particularly to hand oilers comprising several compartments.
It is the object of this invention to provide an oil can container or casing having several cans or compartments for containing the different kinds of oil that are used in making a trip on locomotives.
The advantages of this device are that the different kinds of oil used on a locomotive or other engine are grouped in a single container or casing which is compact and convenient so that the different kinds of oil may be readily located when needed. Another advantage of this invention is that each separate inner oil can is removable and furthermore the oil cans may be formed of any preferred shape or size and the outer container or casing shaped to conform therewith.
lVhile the preferred form of this invention is illustrated upon the accompanying sheet of drawing yet it is to be understood that minor detail changes may be made without departing from the scope thereof.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of this improved device.
Fig. 2 is a view in transverse, central, horizontal section.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view in vertical section through the discharge spouts of the casing and an oil can.
In carrying out this invention an outer oil can container or casing 1 is provided which is closed on the sides, with a hinged bottom 2, preferably provided with a latch 3 adapted to engage a hasp 4 on the side to maintain the bottom closed, and with as many discharge spouts 5 on the top as there are oil cans to be contained therein. A handle 6 is preferably mounted upon the top, and each spout 5 is preferably threaded to receive a threaded cap 7 which may be fastened to the container by a chain, such as 8. It is also preferable to affix upon the top adjacent each spout 5 a plate 9 which will display the kind of oil and capacity of the contained oil can to which the spout 5 leads or is connected.
In the form illustrated the outer container or casing is rectangular and is adapted to receive four rectangular oil cans 10 therein. The oil cans are provided with spouts 11 adapted to be received snugly within the spouts 5 and are so constructed that the caps 7 closing the spouts 5 also act as a closure for the oil. can spouts 11 which spouts are held in such position by the bottom of the container. It is preferable to provide each casing spout with an internal flange 12 about its upper edge and construct the can spouts of such length that their upper edges will be held in firm contact with the under side of the flange when they are inserted within the casing and the bottom closed.
In the form shown each oil can is of similar shape and size and the casing and oil can spouts are arranged in one corner of both so that the oil cans are held firmly against each other and the oil dispensed from any one can by removing the cap of the desired can and tilting the casing.
It is obvious that the oil cans may be of any other desired shape or may be of different size so long as they can be placed to gether in a compact body and the casing of such shape that it will receive such body of oil cans. The spouts of both the oil cans and. easing may be arranged in any desired manner other than the arrangement shown as long as the constructionis such that each oil can will have a corresponding casing spout.
What I claim is A device for containing and dispensing different kinds of oil comprising a casing, a plurality of removable oil cans therein, a discharge spout for each can upon the casing, an internal flange upon the upper edge of each can spout, a discharge spout upon each can entering the corresponding casing EDWARD RITZ.
