Be it known that I, ROY J. BUELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Attachments for Bath- Tubs, and declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make'and use the same, reference being had to the accom panying drawings, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to attachments for bath-tubs and its object is a device combining in a single unitattachable to the tub, a water-tank, a'heater therefor, a fuel supply tank and a pump for withdrawing the water from the tub. The tank is provided with anoutlet leading into the tub and a fixture is provided connecting the outlet of the tub and the pump attached to the-water tank. Another object of the invention is a heater so arranged that the water as it becomes heated is delivered adjacent to the 7 outlet of the tank so that on opening the said outlet to allow the water to flow into the tub the firstwater drawn is the warmest water and continues to flow principally from the tank through the heater until the tank is empty. A further object is a combined tank approved form,

and heating appliance that may be readily attached or detached from the tub and when attached is movable with the tub being entirely supported thereby. The fitting has an end 28 threaded to receive the threaded portion of the apertured outlet plug of the tub and also has an elongated portion terminating in an upturned internally threaded end 29 to receive the threaded end of the pump cylinder 30 as shown in Fig. 1. The pump may be of any approved type adapted'for the purpose preferablyone having a piston 31 provided with a ball valve 32 and the lower end of the pump cylinder is provided with a ball check valve 33 opening on up ward movement of the pump piston and closing on the downward stroke during which the ball andvalve 32 of the piston opens allowing the water to flow through the piston to the upper side thereof in the usual well known manner. The upper end of the pump cylinder is provided with an outlet spout 34:, and an operating rod 35 is attached to the piston provided .at the upper end with a handle .by means of which it may be operated. The pump cylinder stands vertically at the side ofthe water tank and may be secured inposition by any approved means as a strap 36 passing about the pump cylinder and secured to the wall of the tank.

By my improved water heating device, the several elements of which are united to pro vide a. single unit attachable to the tub, a bath tub of ordinary form may be utilized without involving particular expense by simply mounting the device upon the end thereof as described. An inexpensive bathing appara tus is thus provided particularly adapted for use in isolated districts and enabling persons in such districts to avail themselves or" sanitary appliances equivalent to those in use in the larger towns and cities.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. An apparatus for use in conjunction with a bath-tub comprising in a single unit adapted to be solely supported by the tub,

a water tank, a heating apparatus therefor, a fuel supply tank for the heating apparatus, a pump carried by the tank, a pipe fitting secured. to the pump and adapted to be connected with. the waste outlet of the tub, and means for supporting the tank on the tub.

2. An apparatus for use in conjunction with a bath tub comprising in a single detachable unit adapted to be solely supported by the tub, a water tank, a heating apparatus therefor, a fuel supply tank for the heating apparatus, a pump carried by the tank, a pipe fitting secured to the pump adapted to be connected with the waste outlet of the tub, brackets adapted to support the tank and connected parts on the tub, and a valved fitting providing an outlet for the tank discharging into the tub.

A water heating apparatus for use in conjunction with a bath tub comprising in combination with a tank adapted to be supported by the tub and'having a valved discharge outlet leading thereinto, of a fuel burner, the tank being provided with a pocket above the burner, a pipe in the pocket connecting with the tank at the bottom and discharging thereinto adjacent said outlet.

A water heating apparatus for use in conjunction with a bath tub comprising in combination with the tank adapted to be secured to the tub and having a valved dis charge opening leading thereinto, of a fuel burner, a pocket or recess formed in the bottom of the tank above the burner, a second pocket adjacent the first named pocket and inclosing the valved opening, a coiled pipe in the first named pocket connecting v named pocket.

.7. A water heating apparatus for'use in 7 conjunction with a bath tub comprising in combination with a tank adapted to be sea cured to the tub and having a valved discharge opening leading thereinto, a plurality of fuel burners, the tank being provided with a pocket or recess above each burner, a

pocket extending across the tank adjacent each of the burner pockets and inclosing the outlet, and a pipe in each pocket connecting with the tank at the bottom and discharging into the pocket inclosing the outlet.

8. In combination with a water heating apparatus adapted to be, secured to a bath tub and to discharge thereinto, of a pump supported by the apparatus, a fitting com-' prising a hollow body having an extension adapted to be secured to the waste opening of the tub, a second extension terminating in an upturned end arranged to receive the pump cylinder, and a closable opening at the bottom of the body for attaching a drainage fitting.
