IMPROVEMENT IN LAND-MARKERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,474, dated February 6, 1872.

SPECIFICATION. To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J. V. GRAY, of Washington, in the county of Daviess and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plow-Markers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the let ters of reference marked thereon which form a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a corn-marker, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a perspective view of my corn-marker.

A and B Brepresent three runners of suitable length, each provided with a marker, C. These markers are each composed oftwo metal plates, placed side by side, and connected at their front ends, by straps to a, with the rear end of the runner, and the rear ends of said plates are turned outward, as shown, forming wings D D. The side runners B B have each two bars, E E, attached to them, the inner ends of which bars are hinged to the center runner A, thus keeping the side runners always parallel with and at the same distance from the center runner A, although they are allowed to accommodate themselves to any unevenness in the ground. From the center marker projects an upright bar or standard, D, through the upper end of which pass rods G G attached to the'side markers. These rods steady the markers and keep them in proper position. H represents the tongue, which is pivoted to the center runner, as shown, and, by rods I I, connected with the side runners B B.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. The combination of the runners A and B B, markers 0 O with wings D D, and hinged bars E E, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.

2. In combination with the above, the standard E, rods G G, tongue H, and rods I I, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
