Be it known that I, LUDWIG WoLFFGRAi r, a citizen of the German Empire, and a resident of New York, in the borough of Brooklyn, county 4of Kings, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rolling-Mills for Seamless Tubes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to rolling mills for seamless tubes, and has for its object to provide an improved mill, by means of which the rollers may be changed to any position desired. More particularly my invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, and will be more fully described hereinafter and nally pointed out in the claiins.

Fig. 4 shows the relative position of the rollers, and u v Fig. 5 shows the relative position of two rollers with the mandrel in position, and the mass or block passing between the rollers and over the mandrel to form the seamless tube.
Fig. 6 represents an elevation ofthe outer end of one of the cylindrical ways, showing the locking means for holding the roller carrier in adjusted position within said cylindrical way, parts being broken out.
Fig. 7 represents a diametrical section .of said cylindrical way on line 7:-7 of Fig. 6, showing a fragment of the adjustable roller carrier disposed therein.
Fig. 8 represents a vertical longitudinal section of a casing for this roller mill in which the several ways for the roller mill are angular in form and structurally separate one from the other.
Fig. 9 represents an end elevation of the right hand end of the casing shown in Fig. 8.

Referring to the drawings, and more particularly to Fig. 1, a b ase 10 is provided vwhich supports tw'o horizontally and laterally extendin portionsor'casings 11 and 12, and an uprig t or vertically extending portion or casing 13. The casings 11 and 12 are disposed apart' from each other in rightline Specification of Letters Patent.

alinement on opposite sides of the roll pass and are open at their adjacent ends. The casing 13 is disposed at right angles to the axis of the casings 11 and 12. Within each of these portions or casings 11, 12 and 13, which act as guideways, drums 15, 16 and 17 are provided which are capable of being rotated within the portions 11, 12 and 13, and of being moved along the length of the same toward or from each other. Each of these drums 15, 16 and 17 constitute roller carriers, being provided at their forward ends with supporting members 18, which are provided with openings or bearings 19 for corresponding shafts 2O of rollers 21, 22 and 23. rlhe axes of the rollers 21 and 22 are at right angles to the common axis of the carriers 15 and 16 and oscillatable in parallel vertical planes. The axis of the Y roller 23 is at right angles. to the axis of its carrier and is oscillatable in a horizontal plane. These rollers are shaped as indicated have definite configurations and definite angles, as more fully described in av copending application Serial No. 37,609 filed by me July l, 1915. The mandrel 25 with the mandrel rod 26 is arranged in a suitable position in respect to the rollers 21 and l22, as shown in Fig. 5, and a mass orblock 27 passes through the rollers and over the mandrel 25 to form a seamless thin walled tube 28, as shown in Fig. 5.
l The heads 33 at the outer ends of the portions or cylinders 11, 12 and 13 are rovided' with central screw-threaded openings 33 and screwthreaded stems 31, 32 and 30 engage said openings. The stems 31 and 32 are provided outside said heads with actuating hand wheels 35 and 36 respectively and the stein 30 is provided with an actuating gear wheel 37. rllhe stems 31, 32 and 30 are provided at their inner ends withl enlargements 31, 32El and 30a which engage the outer ends of the drums 15, 16 and 17 in such manner that the drums must move longitudinally within their respective cylinders in unison with such movements of the screwthreaded stems, but the stems and drums are free to turn independently of each other. By rotating any of these wheels in either one or the other direction, the stems are rotated, and by means of the screw-threads the stems are moved in respect to the'heads so as to move the drums inwardly or outwardly. At the same time,

when it is desired, the drums may be rotated in their angular position so as to change by the drums.
