Description

G. F. SISBOWER & L. E. PITTONI. Y
WIRE MATTRESS.
APPLICATION FILED JAN. 23, 1915- Patented J My 24, 1917.
UNITED STATES PA 1 GEORGE E. SISBOWER, OF EAST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY, AND LOUIS E. PITTONI, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNORS TO NEW YORK COUCH BED COMPANY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.,
A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
WIRE MATTRESS.
Application filed January 23, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, GEORGE F. SISBOWER, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, and LOUIS E. PITTONI, a subject of the King of Italy, residing at New York city, county of New York, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wire Mattresses, the following being a full, clear, and exact disclosure of the one form of our invention which we at present deem preferable.
For a detailed description of the present form of our invention, reference may be had to the following specification and to the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof.
Our invention relates to a side-guard for a wire mattress and consists in two parallel cables stretched between posts on the opposite ends of the mattress frame, each cable having links connecting it at intervals with the edge of the wire-mattress fabric, the links of one cable alternating with those of the other cable.
Referring to the drawing, A represents in edge view the edge of the wire fabric of the mattress. C, C are the ordinary endbars of the rectangular frame between which the fabric is stretched under tension. Near each end of each end-bar is a rigid post B and between the two posts 011 each side are stretched two parallel cables D, D one above the other. The cable D is connected at intervals with the edge of the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 24, 1917.
Serial No. 3,931.
mattress fabric by links cl and the cable D is similarly connected to the same edge of the mattress fabric by links (Z which alternate in position with the links (Z. Thus both cables aid in sustaining the wire fabric and together form an effective side-guard to keep the stuffed mattress from sliding off of the Wire fabric.
What we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. The combination with a metallic mattress fabric, of a side guard comprising up right posts attached to said mattress, parallel cables extended between said posts in superposed relation, and attached to the posts by unyielding connections, and links connecting each cable to the edge of said fabric independently of the other cable.
2. The combination with a metallic mattress fabric, of a side guard comprising upright posts attached to said mattress, parallel'cables extended between said posts in superposed relation, and attached to the posts by unyielding connections, and links connecting each cable to the edge of said fabric independently of the other cable, the links of one cable alternating with the links of the other.
In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands, before two subscribing witnesses, this 20th day of January, 1915.
GEORGE F. SISBOWER. LOUIS E. PITTONI. Witnesses:
CHAS. F. J. REIGHERT, L. T. S. ERISMAN.
