Bei't lmown that I, JULEs L. CADDELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Maxton, in the county-of Robeson and State of North Carolina, have invented anew and useful Plow, of which the following is a specification. v

This invention relates to of its objects is to provide a plow in which the stock can be readily adjusted to hold the plow at any desired angle relative to the ground.

A further object is to provide a novel form of plow beam which is simple, durable and inexpensive in construction and serves not only as a means for properly holding the stock in any position to which it may be adjusted, but also as means for securely holding the handles.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of the invention has been shown.

Referring to the figures by characters of reference 1 designates a beam formed of a heavy strip of metal, this beam being formed at its forward end with a hook 2 for engagement with the draft means. The rear end of the beam is curved downwardly and then extended forwardly as shown at 3 and formed within the upper edge of the beam 1 above the forward end of the under portion 3 is a longitudinal series of notches 4. A stock 5 in the form of an elongated metal loop, straddles the beam 1 and the under portion 3 and is pivotally connected to the forward end of said portion 3, as shown at 6. The lower end of the stock straddles and is pivotally connected, as at 7 to the forward end of a shoe 8 and the rear end of this shoe is connected by a link 9 to the rear or curved portion of the beam. Connected to the under portion 3 of the beam 1 by a bolt 15 are the lower forward ends of handles 16, these handles diverging rearwardly and upwardly and being attached as at 17, to ears 18 provided at the outer ends of a cross bar 19. This bar has an intermediate loop 20 which straddles the beam 1 and is adjustably connected thereto by a bolt 21 extending through any one of a series of apertures 22 formed in the beam. As the bolt 21 is located out of line with the pivot 17 it will be apparent that by swinging the loop 20 about said pivot the bolt 21 can be brought to position to enter any one of the apertures 22 and thus hold the handles 16 at different angles. It is of course to be understood that the cars 18 are loosely mounted on the bolt or pivot 17 so as to permit angular adjustment of the 100 20.

What is claimed is 1. A plow including a beam having a downwardly turned portion extended forwardly, a stock pivoted on the forward end of the under portion of the beam and straddling the upper portion thereof, a shoe pivotally connected to the lower end of the stock, a link connection between the rear end of the shoe and the downturned portion of the beam, and cooperating means upon the end of the shoe and the downturned portion of the beam, a lever connected to the upper end of the stock, avdog carried thereby, and

- means for actuating the dog, there being a series of recesses in the beam any one of which is adapted to receive the dog.
