IMPROVEMENT IN BLACKlNG-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,204, dated January 30, 1872.
Speciiication describinganew and Improved Blacking-Box, invented by HIRAM SMITH, of Newton Mills, Haddontield, in the county of Camden and State of New Jersey.

My inventionhas for its object to furnish an improved box for shoe-blacking, which sha-ll be so constructed that the blacking can all be removed with the brush, which will not cut the bristles ot' the brush when removing the blacking, and which Will keep its place Wherever it may be placed While being used Without its being necessary for the operator to keep it in his hand 5 and it consists in the construction and combination of various parts of the box, as hereinafter more fully described.

This same thin g may be accomplished by forming teeth upon the lower edge of the rim B. In this case the bottom C need not be used. D is the cover, Which is made and fits upon the top of box in the ordinary manner. The box may be varied in size, as desired7 so as to contain any desired amount of bla-cking.
Having thus described inyinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The blacking apparatus, consisting of ease provided with outwardly-perforated bottom C, cover D, band B, and hemispherical body A, when all are constructed, arranged, and coinbined substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
