LIME-SLAKING MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 29, 191 7.'
Application filed February 9, 1917. Serial No. 147,544.
To all 'whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, MoRRis DORMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lime-Slaking Machines, of which the following is a specication.
This invention relates to improvements in lime slaking machines, and has for its object to provide a device which is simple in construction and eiiicient in operation, and by means of which the water is fed t0 the lime as the latter is agitated The invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of the parts and combination of parts hereinafter more fully set forth in the following specication and pointed out in detail in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation of my invention.
Fig. 2 is an end view of Fig. 1, with the cover raised. y
Fig. 3 is a detail enlarged view of the cylinder and water feed.
Referring to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, and in which like reference numerals designate like parts thro-ughout the several views thereof, 1 designates the ends of the fr ame which are connected by the pieces 2 and 3 and each provided with a segment-shaped cut out 4 at its upper edge, and having a cover 5 hinged thereto, and at each end of which cover 5 is a segment shaped piece 6 each4 provided with two rollers 7 on its inner surface adapted to rest on the circular pieces 8 and 9 at the ends of the cylinder. Said rollers 7 rotate on the pins 10. The endsl 1 are also provided with rollers v11 upon which the circular pieces 8 rest and rotate.k Said rollers 11 being mounted upon the pins 12. The cylinder 13 is formed of ine netting, or other suitable material, and is secured to the circular pieces 8 and 9 in any suitable manner. The piece 8 being provided with a Copies of this patentmay be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the the frame,
large aperture 14 through which the lime is fed to the cylinder and a handle 15 by means of which the cylinder is rotated. The piece 9 is provided with an aperture 16 through which the feed water pipe 17 passes. The said pipe 1 7 projects into said cylinder and extends to within a short distance of the opposite end thereof and is provided with a number of apertures 18 through which the water flows to the lime in the cylinder 13.
lThe operation of the device is as follows: The lime is fed through the opening'14 to the cylinder 13 and the latter rotated by means of the handle 15. As the cylinder is being rotated the water flows'through the apertures 18 from the pipe 17 and falls upon the lime and asthe latter slakes it falls through the cylinder 13 into a suitable receptacle.A
I-Iaving'thus described my invention, what I claim is:
1. A lime slaking machine comprising a frame, rollers secured at opposite sides of the frame, a perforated cylinder resting upon said rollers and adapted to rotate thereon, means for rotating said cylinder, and a water supply pipe leading into said cylinder and having perforations therein.
2. A lime slaking machine comprising a frame, rollers secured at opposite sides of a perforated cylinder resting upon said rollers and adapted to rotate thereon, means for rotating said cylinder, a water supplypipe leading into said cylinder and having perforations therein, a cover hinged to said frame and projecting over said cylinder, and rollers at each end of said cover adapted to rest upon the ends of the said cylinder.
In testimony whereof Il aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
MORRIS DORMAN.
