A circuit 1 is provided'with a circuit interrupter-2 and a current transformer 3. relay -1 is provided for tripping the circuit interrupter Q a: time interval after the current that traverses the circuit 1 has increased to a predetermined value.

It will be understood that the relay, as here shown, is .purely diagrammatic and that many modifications may be made therein without departing from' the spirit and scope of my invention as set forth in the appended claims.
I claim as my invention:
1. A relay for an electric circuit comprising an actuated member, a retarded member and means connected therebetween whereby the retarded member is adapted to operate ina time that varies substantiallyinversely as thecurrent traversing the circuit up to a predetermined value of current and in a definite time for all values of current above the predetermined value. I
