To all whom itma e concern:
Be it knownfthat I, JOHN W :MORGA'N, a citizen of the United States, residing at Marysville, in the county of Yuba, State of d California, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements. in Di'sk'Plows; and I do declare the'follow'ing' to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form-a part of this application.
This invention'relates to improvements in disk plows and particularly withrespectto the steering control meanslof the same together with. a means whereby the width of the furrows outv by the plow may. be readily. altered without the necessity of adding to on'taking away from the number of the disks as, is now the common practice. I accomplish this by changing the angle at which the plow is steered and then in combination. therewith altering the position of the disk so as to adjust every angle to suit the changed condition. The invention em-. bodies certain other control means in order to render the structure eflicient for the purposes, all of which will appear by the reading of thefollowing specification.

Referring IlOWyHlOIG particularly; to the characters of. reference on the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the main frame of the plow, i 'proj ecting centrally from which as at 2 is a bracket in which is turnable the supporting post 3 of the main wheel 4. At one 'end of the frame 1 is turnable the supporting post 5 of the front furrow wheel 6, and at the other end is turnable the supporting post 7 of the rearfurrow wheel 8.
On the post 3 is a steering bell crank 9, on the post 5. is a steering lever 10 and on the post 7 is a steering lever 11. A connecting rod 12 leads from the lever 10 and connects with one end of the bellcrank 9 and is provided with a sliding adjustment consisting of the pin 12 slidable in the main rod 12 and arranged to be fixed at any desired position therein by means'of a set screw 12. Similarly, a connecting rod 13 connects TI'OD']. the lever 11 with-the other end of the bellcrank 9 and is provided with an adjustment comprising the'pin 13 slidable within the main rod 13 and arranged to be setat any desired position therein by means'of a set-screw 13*. By means of these adjustments just described the relative positions of' the land wheel and the furrow wheels may be fixed atwill,both for the purpose of narrowing or widening the furrow to be cut and for the purpose of overcoming any side drag against the plow, and it will be'rea'dily apparent that this adjustment can be had to an extreme nicety.
The numeral 14 designates the steering arm suitably connected with the post 5 and being connected at its outer end with the steering bar 15, while the numeral 16 designates the steering strut extending outwardly from the main frame parallel with the member 15.
The numeral 17 designates the draw bar which is secured to the main frame and provided along its length with a plurality of holes 18 whereby the drag chain 19 may be set at different relative positions and properly lined :up with the draft of the plow to overcome the side thrust or drag. The said bolts 25 removed and disposed through different holes 24, which will change the relative angles of the disks at will, and when 7 so changed'the bolts 25 and 23 are again tightened to hold the brackets 20 rigid in the desired position.
The furrow wheels 6 and 8 are arranged to be raised and lowered at will,but inas-v much as this raising and lowering structure is not a part of the present invention,

tion of the same since it is apparent. that a great many different means might be employed for that purpose.
Describing now the operation of the plow, the drag can be first primarily determined by positioning the chain 19 at any one of the holes 18 on the draw bar 17 and, when the proper drag is thus obtained, a furtheradjustment can then be had by means of the rods 12 and 13,-by further adjustment of which the relative positions of'the land and furrow wheels may be determined. Assuming now that the plow was being operated with the parts in the positionshown in Fig. 1 and it was desired 7 to narrow the width of the furrow, the relative positions of the land and furrow wheels would be changed by means of the adjustment rods noted so that the plow would tend to pull more to the right. This of course would then move the disks out of proper position relative to the changed position of the plow proper, but'this could 'the right or the left to avoid side draft and to render it easy to keep the motive power out of the furrow, the position of the chain 19 on the draw bar 17 may be altered at will without the necessity of altering the connectionsof the chain 19 with the draw bar of the motive tractor or other motive means.
Another great advantage to be derivedby the useof my three-wheel control is that since all of the steering levers of the wheels are connected with each other, they move in the same relative. relation when turned and thus permit of a much; easier and shorter turn to be made due to the fact that the amount of drag and side draft in turning is greatly lessened since the wheels all conform to the same curve made by'the plow in the turning operation.
As noted, each of the wheels may ad I justed and set independently of the other or all of them may be adjusted as a unit,
and itis to be readily understood that this 7 will make possible a very 'minute adjustment so as to practically do away with any unnecessary: side draft or drag either in the straight pull or in turning.
