1 Application filed November 15, 1915. Serial No. 61,618. 1
To all wfiomz't may con ern:
Be it known that I, PEARL M. SRADER, a citizen of the United States, residingat Lebanom-in the county of Smith, State of) Kansas, have invented certain new and usevfulImprovements in Circular Extension- Tables; and I do hereby declare the follow.-
v ing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suchas will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. I p
The present invention is directed to improvements in circular extension tables, and
' has for its object to so construct a device of thischaracter that the same can be easily and quickly extended when desired.
. A further-object of the invention is to provide a tableof this character with a supplemental rotary table adapted to receive food, the same being so mounted that it can i 'be conveniently rotated by'a diner so as to place the desired food into conveniently reached. .VVith these and other objects in View, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and position to be V arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
.Figure 1 is a top plan View ofthetable,
showing the extension segments in place.
Fig. 2isa top'pla'n view of the main table,
the rotary tablebeing removed.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view-on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1. i
Fig.4 is a fragmentarybottom plan view of the main, table, showing the extension sections in place.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary bottom plan-view of the rotary table,
Fig. 6 isa sectional view on the line 6-6 of Fig. 5.
Fig. 7' is a side elevation of the complete table. I l
Fig. 8 is a detail sectional view of the ball race.
Referring to the drawing, 1 indicates the pedestal, which has'suitably attached thereto supporting legs 2', saidpedestal also having suitably connectedto its lower end a circular block 3. The block} and legs 2 areeach provided with suitable casters, whereby the table can be rolled from place to place.
The main table 4 comprises a circular top 5, connected to the upper-end of. the pedestal Specification of Letters Patent.
Patentedilllay 15, 1917.
'1, and provided adjacent its "outer edge with a: depending flange 6, provided with a phi-- rality of pairs of spaced openings 7. Located adjacent each opening '7 .is a socket-8, the purpose of which will later appear.
A plurality of segment-shaped extension sections 9 are provided, each-of which is provided with a pair of spaced arms 10 inserted in the openings 7 so that their innet ends will engage in the sockets 8, whereby the sections 9 are held in firm horizontal position with their adjacent ends in abutting relation. Thus it will be seen that the sections 9 can be easily and quickly removed 2 from'engagement with the top 5 or engaged therewith as desired.
i The upper surface of the top 5 has suitably connected centrally thereof a sheet metal circular plate 11 providedwith an upstanding circular flange 12, spaced from the edge of the plate 11. The edge of the plate 11 has a marginal flange 13 which forms in conjunction with the flange 12 a. race way 14 forreceiving the ballbearings 15, the purpose ofwhich will appear later.
The rotary table 16 comprises a circular "top 17 which has fixed to its under surface acircular plate 18, having a vertical marginal flange 19 which encircles the flange 13 so that the plates 11 and 18 are held against relative lateral movement. The top 17 is provided adjacentits edge witha flange 20, said flange being also provided. with openings 21 and sockets 22 which are adapted to receive thearms 23 carried by the segment-shap'ed extension sections 24. Thus it will be seen that the rotary table can be extendefl when desired.
To facilitate the-rotation ot I the flange 20 thereof is provided with a plurality'of handles 25, similar .handles 26 be-' ing carried by the sections 24.
' The respectite extension sections 9 and depending circular flange provided: with the top 17 T its openings therein. means for forming sockets intcriorly of said flange and' in registration with said openings, extension sections having arms the inner ends of which detachably engage said openings in the sockets. a rot r table top having extension sections detachably connected thereto, a circular plate fixed outer concentric flange of the first named td the upper surface of the first named top,- plate. I v spaced concentric flanges carried by said In testimony whereof, I aflix my signaplate for forming a raceway, ball bearings ture, in the presence of two witnesses.
5 in said raceway, and acircular plate carried PEARL M. SRADER.
by the second named top and engaging the W'itnesses: balls in said raceway and having a depend- F. V. BRADY, ing flange engaging the outer surface of the C. 'M. Fmcr r.
