Specification of Letters Patent.
- Patented May 8;, 11917.
' Application filed October 9, 1918. Serial No. 124,576.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it knfown that I, MARY JOHNSTON Larrnnm, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in thev county of Montgomery,
State of. Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Splash-Boards; and I do'hereby declare the following'to be a full, clear, vand exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the artto which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention'relates to a shield or protector for preventing the splashing of water from a dish-panor l ike receptacle and the consequent soiling of the clothes of the person at work.
An object of the present invention resides in the iprovision of a rotector of the above character which may e manufactured from a single blank of material at a relatively low cost and which is capable of general applidesignated generally at 5 and 1s preferably constructed or. formed. from a single'blank ofmaterialsuch as tin, aluminum, fiber or other suitable composition. V
Specifically the protector comprises a right angul body member 6 constituting what may be termed the apron of the device said body when in use being disposed in a substantially upright position adjacent the dish-pan and receiving therefrom the splash resulting from the washing operation.
This body 6 has its upper and side marginal edges directed at an angle therefrom, as clearly shown, to provide a suitable flange '1 arranged to deflect and prevent the splashed water from passing over said edges.
The bottom edge of the body 6 is reduced or constricted as indicated at 8 and has formed integrally therewith a substantially ar extension 9 adapted to be en-' gaged between the bottom of the dish-pan 10 and its support whereby to securely hold the protector in posltion for use as illustrated in Fig. 2. v
The operation of the protectoris obvious and is thought to need no detailed explanation, while whennot in use it may be convenientlysusp ended from a nail or other similar support through the medium of an opening 11 found in the head 6.
at I claim is: a protector for'dish-pans formed from a single'blank of material and comprising a body member having a portion of its margin directed at an angle to the body member to provide a flange, and an angular extension at one edge ofthe body adapted to be engaged beneath a dish-pan and thereby support the protector in position for use.
In testimony whereof, I afi'lx my'signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
