GAME APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 24, 1917.
Application filed-September 20, 1916. Serial No. 121,255.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MILLIE M. DEIBEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Youngstown in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a game apparatus and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of the invention is to provide a game apparatus comprising a board having frames mounted thereon which simulate horizontal bars and figures turnably mounted upon the said frames, the said figures normally hanging pendant and adapted to be struck by a ball or other missile whereby they are caused to swing or rotate about the bars or horizontal portions of the frames, the number of turns each figure makes when struck indicating a certain score which is counted in favor of the player who casts or projects the missile.
A further object of the invention is to so construct the frames that the figures may hang or catch during their turning movement and when this occurs the score may be counted double or may be reduced as a penalty against the player who causes the figure to describe an incomplete rotation about the bar of the frame.
In the accompanying drawing Figure l is a plan view of the game apparatus.
The other figures are detailed views of the features thereof.
The game apparatus comprises a board 1 which is bound on three sides by upstanding flanges 2. Frames 3 are mounted upon the board 1, the said frames being preferably formed from pieces of wire.
Each frame 3 includes intermediate bar portions 4 which are disposed approximately horizontal or parallel with the upper surface of the board 1. Ends of the bar portion 4 merge into upstanding loops or bends 5 and from the said loops the side portions of the frames are extended into legs 6 which are attached at their lower ends to the boards 1. Suitable score figures 7 are provided upon the upper surface of the board 1 adjacent the frame 3 and the said score figures may be of any suitable denomination. Links 8 are provided at one end with eyes which receive the bar portion 4: of the frame and the said links are also connected with the figures 9 which simulate horizontal bar performers. Marbles or balls 10 are used as missiles and the said marbles or balls are shot or projected over the upper surface of the board 1.
When the apparatus is in use a player casts or shoots one of the marbles or balls 10 over the board toward one of the frames 3. In the event that the marble or ball strikes the figure 9 swinging from the said frame and causes the said figure to rotate once about the bar portion 4, that player is entitled to a score equal to the denomination of the score figure 7, at the base of the said frame. Should the figure be struck a sufficient force to cause it to rotate twice about the bar portion the player is entitled to a score equal to twice the amount of the score figure adjacent the said frame.
Should the figure 9 be struck in a manner to cause one of the links 8 to pass beyond the end of the bar portion 4 and catch against the inner side of either of the loops or bends 5 whereby the figure is held suspended upon the bar portion, the player who causes such movement on the part of the figure 9 may be entitled to a score equal to three times the denomination of the adjacent score figure or he may be subjected to a reduction of the score previously attained as a penalty for striking the figure in a manner to cause an incomplete rotation or movement of the same about the bar portion 4 of the frame.
Therefore it will be seen that a game apparatus of simple structural arrangement is provided and that in using the same considerable skill and judgment must be exercised to cause the figures 9 to move properly about the bar portion 4 upon which they normally hang.
Having described the invention what is claimed is A game apparatus comprising a board, a frame mounted thereon and having an intermediate bar portion With upstanding loops ent from the bar at a point between the loops formed at the ends thereof, links having eyes but when the links move upon the loops the which receive the said bar portion and Which figure is held in elevated position.
are movable upon the loops and a figure con- In testimony whereof I affix my signature. 10 nected With the links, the parts being so arranged that the figure normally hangs pend- MILLIE M. DEIBEL.
