MIT HELL, acitizen of the United States, residing at Spencerpor't, in the countyof Monroe and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Combination Suit-Hangers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art towhich it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in combination suit hangers and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device which forms a coat and trouser hanger.v
Another. object of the invention is to provide a device which may be easily and cheaply constructed of wood, metal or any other suitable material and will hold the clothing in their proper shape.
With these andother objects in view, theinvention consists in the novel combination and arrangement. of' parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a suit hanger constructed in accordance. with this invention. A,
Fig. 2 is a side View in elevation of the device showing the same partly open, and Fig. 8 is a top plan view of the hanger.
Referring to the drawings the numeral 1 designates as an entirety the main body of the device consisting of the arcuate body portion 2 lmving a suitable head 3 formed at each end. These heads extend outwardly from one of the flat faces ofthe body portion and are formed with the inwardly eX- tending lugs 4, the ends of which are formed with the bevel faces 5. Extending through. the body portion 2 and centrally thereof is the stem 6 of a suitable hook designated generally by the numeral 7 the upper end of which is provided with a hooked poris hung. Pivoted beneath one of the ears fl by a suitable pivot pin 9 is the cooperating clamp member 10 which is arcuate to conform to the shape of the body and Specification of Letters Patent.
fall within thespirit and consists of the body portion 11 having formed at opposite ends the longitudinally extending ears 12 one of which is provided with an aperture for the reception of the pivot pin 9, while the opposite ear is adapted to engage beneath the projection 4: at the opposite end of the main body of'the hanger.
The ends of the body portions 11 are beveled as at 13 so as to engage the beveled faces 5 and prevent the clamp member from moving downwardly beyond a predetermined point. -As illustrated'in Fig. 3, it-will be seen that a space 14 is formed between the adjacent faces of the body and clamp member which is of a suiiicient width to receive the, thickness of the-trousers, theends of which are placed therein.
In use, it will be seen that the trousers are placed with their lower ends upwardly and the same are slipped into place when the Afterthe trousers have been placed in position, *itwill be evident that the coat may be slipped over the body and in this way an entire suit may be hung up its shape. 1
While in the foregoing; there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, it is tobe understood that such changes may be made in the combination and arrangement of parts as will scope of the appended claim.- i
What is claimed is p A garment hanger" comprising a curved body, a hook centrally of said body, a head extending outwardly from each end of the body and rom one of the flat faces thereof, an inwardly extending lug on each head, a clamp member comprising a curved body, lugs on the ends of the curved body, said lugs being adapted to be positioned between the body of the hanger, and the lugs on the ends of the heads, and a pivot pin extending and will retain thereby insuring the retaining of the crease.
70 j clamp member is in the raised position illus trated in Fig. 2. Upon swinging the clamp through one pair of lugs to hold the clamp In testimony whereof I afhx my signature member in pivotal relation to the body, the in presence of two VIUICSSOS.
