PORTABLE TOILET-SEAT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 17, 1917.
Application filed January 6, 1915. Serial No. 805.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARTIN MEYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nobraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Toilet-Seats, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in portable toilet seats, and has for its object to provide a toilet seat which may be folded or collapsed for convenient transportation. A secondary object relates to certain details of construction conducing to utility and durability.
The invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as described herein and claimed, and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein,-

Referring now to the drawing, numeral 1 indicates a toilet seat preferably of rectangular form having an aperture w and provided on its bottom to open on its front and back with a pair of U-shaped grooves, the rectilinear parts a of saidgrooves, midway be-.

At 2, best shown in Fig. 4C, are indicated U-shaped supporting members, to provide legs, said members being arranged in pairs, the rectilinear base 0 of each pair being seated in a groove (1, and when folded or collapsed, the divergent parts or legs 3 are seated in grooves b in the plane of the seat so that they will not be obtrusive. At 4 are indicated staples, holders or brackets preferably countersunk in the bottom of the seat parts 5 of each U-shaped groove for pivotally supporting the bases 0 in grooves a, said holders being provided with guards or stops 5 extending laterally there from for engagement with the legs, and thereby supporting them, relatively, in incllned or divergent positions when extended. At 6 are indicated keepers or buttons which may be countersunk in the bottom ofthe seat and may be partly rotated for engaging and holding the legs in the grooves b when the parts are collapsed and preferably threaded on each leg at its ree end, is a foot-piece 7 so that the legs will not sink into the ground when in use.
At 8 is indicated a recess formed to open on the top of the seat, near one of its sides; and as best shown in Fig. 7, a small roll of toilet paper may be carried by a box frame 9, said frame being mounted in said recess.
At 10 is indicated a lid, the hinges for mounting it on the seat being indicated at 11. Each hinge member on the seat, outwardly of the lid, is provided with an upwardly projecting stop or lug 12, the hinge members for the lid also being provided with the projections 13 adapted to engage the lugs 12, for suitably supporting the lid inclinedly when it has been swung upwardly. A suitable handle for carrying the device is indicated at 14.
As thus described the device provides a convenient toilet stool-which may be collapsed to occupy a very limited space when transported, these being the principal objects desired, since it is for the use of automobile excursionists, or for use in the fields or 1n camp.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,
A portable toilet device, including an apertured seat having oppositely arranged approximately U-shaped grooves in its underside, correspondingly shaped supporting members having bearings in said approximately U-shaped grooves, said supporting members having dlvergent leg-formlng portions, and holders secured to sald seat and adapted to provide for plvotally connecting Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the movement as the latter are disposed in vertical position.
