POISON-LABEL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 3, 1917..
Application iled June 13, 1916. Serial'No. 103,423.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, HAROLD D. Mon'roN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mitchell, in the county of Scotts Bluff and State of Nebraska, have invented certain useful Improvements in Poison-Labels, of 'which the followingis a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to improvements in poison labels for attachment to bottles, one object of the invention being the provision of a label which will be illuminated at all times so as to indicate in the dark the presence of such bottle;
A further object of this invention is the provision of-a label of this character which carries thereon a small flask which contains.
equal parts of phosphorus and olive oil, so that the phosphorescence will be visible at-all times and indicate at a -glance when such label is applied to a bottle that the bottle `contains a: poison.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the bottle with the present label applied.
Fig. 2 is a section taken on Fig. 1.
line 9,-.-2 of Fig. 3 is a plan View of the fluid contain` ing bottle or vial with the label.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view through the pocket for carrying the vial.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 designates a small bottle or vial having'a stopper 6 and containing in the space 7 equal parts of phosphorus and olive oil, the upper space 8 being illuminated byr the phosphorus,
the stopper from the vial and permit the entrance thereinto of the atmosphere which sets up oxidation sufficiently to renew the phosphorescence. The pocket for containing the vial may be made of any desired elastic material, preferably rubber or rubber compound.
From the foregoing description, it is evident that the present label may be readily attached upon bottles of' any character that may contain poison, and that due to the phosphorescence, the usual skull and crossbones to indicate poison which are stenciled in the front face of the pocket will be visible in the dark.
y What l claim as new is A label for bottles, including a stenciled x opaque and elastic pocket removably mounted on the bottle, and a transparent phosv phorus containing vial removably and frictionally engaged in the pocket so as to be retained against accidental displacement.
Inv testimony whereof I affix my signature. Y A HAROLD D. MORTON. y
