Be it known that I, EDWARD BRAGG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Farmerville, in the parish of Union and State of ouisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milking-Stools; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the in vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in milking stools and the principal object of the invention is to provide a light and portable stool which may be strapped to the body of the user in order that it may be readily placed in position for use.

Another object of the invention is to provide a strong and durable stool for support` ing the user in acomfortable position during the milking operation.

A still further object of the' invention is to provide a device which is particularly simple in construction and may be adjusted to persons of various sizes.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification rand accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the milking stool constructed in accordance with this invention.

Referring to the drawing the numeral 1 designates a standard oftheordinary construction which preferably is formed out of a light strong wood and is circular in cross section as clearly illustrated in the drawing. The lower end of the standard is provided with a bore 2 which is internally screw threaded and adapted to receive the threaded extension 3 of the foot 4c. rule 5 surrounds the lower terminal of the standard l and is adapted to prevent the same from splitting. The upper end of the standard is provided with a rectangular projection 6 having formed therein a plurality of transverse openings 7 through which the belt 8 passes and it will thus be seen that the belt may be adjusted to various heightsfrom the seat according to the desire of the occu-` pants thereof.

Formed in the standard intermediate its ends and extending transversely thereof is a suitable opening 9 which may be of any desired form but in the structure illustrated in the drawing is circular and this opening 9 is adapted to receive the dowel pin 10 which is formed integral with the rear edge of the seat l1 so as to form a support for the seat to prevent the same from movement with relation to the standard.

In order to facilitate the rising of the user a suitable compression coil spring l2 is secured to the lower end of the lower section 4 and it will be seen that when the weight of the occupant is placed on the seat the spring will be compressed and the rising of the occupant will relieve the weight and the spring will assist in lifting the device from the ground.

In use it will be seen that the device is strapped to the body of the user by the belt 8 and when it is occupied it will be apparent that the person sits upon the seat 11 and his weight is supported on the standard 1. In order to insure the comfort of the occupant the foot 4 may be adjusted to a desired height and the belt 8 may be passedthrough any one of the openings 7 thereby adjusting the distance between the feet and the belt.
