Be it known that I, HUGH LEITCH, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of Regina, in the Province of Saskatchewan, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Antiseptic Flush-Tanks, of which the following is the' specification.
This invention relates to improvements in antiseptic flush tanks particularly adapted for use in dentistry, and the objects of the invention are to facilitate in keeping to hand an adequate supply of hot antiseptic liquid wherewith simplify the Construction of the tank and generally adapt it to better perform the fmctions required of it, and it consists essentially of the improved construction particularly described and set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings forming part of the same.

The figure is a vertical section of the improved flush tank and showing the syringe partly in section and partly in ele Vatio In the drawing, A represents' the improved fiush tank comprising the inner container 10 inclosed in a vacuum jacket 11 and separated therefrom by distance pieces 12, the said container being provided with an inlet conduit 13 which extends through the vacuum jacket and is provided on the upper end with a cap 14 threaded or otherwise fastened thereon.
Operatively mounted in the container 10 is a pump 15, the upper end of which projects beyond the vacuum jacket 11, while the lower end extends midway of the height of the container. The pump comprises a barrel 16 with which the plunger 17 slidably engages. This plunger is operatively connected to the lower end of the plunger rod 18, the upper 'end of which is provided with a hand grip 19 thereby facilitating in manually Operating the plunger.
The lower end of the pump is provided with a discharge valve 20 normally engaging with the discharge or' ce 21 of the barrel 16, the said valve being held in a normal position by means of the spiral spring 22 operatively mounted on the pins 23 formed integral with the barrel 16 of the pump.
The liquid is discharged from the container 10 through the pipe 24:, the upper teeth may be fiushed, to
end of which extends through the casing 10 and the vacuum jacket ll and is operatively connected to one end of the fieXible tube 25 which is provided with a' vacuum jacket 26 extending therearound, the other end of the tube being connected to the syringe 27 which is provided with a vacuum jacket 28 and carries intermediate of its length a valve 29 adapted to control the passage of liquid through the syringe.
The lower or free end of the syringe may be provided with an interchangeable nozzle 30 of any usual description well known in the profession of dentisti-y. The upper' end of the container 10 and vacuum jacket ll are inclosed by a suitable cap 31.
The assembly of the tank will bereadily understood from the foregoing description.
When the tank is in use the cap 31 is removed and a supply of heated liquid, such as water or the like, is poured into the container 10 through the conduit 13 whereupon the cap 14 is located in position, and when it is found necessary to use the liquid in the container lO it is only necessary to manually actuate the plunger rod 18 whereby air is delivered into the container 10 and the liquid contained therein is forced through the discharge pipe 24 and the fieXible pipe 25 to the syringe 28 whereupon when the valve 29 is opened the liquid sprays through the nozzle 30 which may be inserted in the mouth to flush the teeth.
From this description it will be seen that I have invented a flush tank which can be advantageously used by dentists and by means of which a considerable Volume of antiseptic liquid may be always kept at hand at the desired temperature required for fiushing the teeth or mouth of the patient.
As many changes could be made in the above Construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention, within the scope of the claims, constructed without departing from the spirit or scope thereo f, it is intended that all matter 'contained in the accompanying specification and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim as my invention is:
