" ITEI) STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM PARIS ROBINSON AND WESLEY COLUMBUS NASH, 0F MIAMI, FLORIDA.
FLOOR-SCRAPER BURNISHER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Batented Mar. 20, 1917.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that we, WILLIAM P. ROBIN- soN and WESLEY C. NASH, citizens ofthe United States, residing at `Miami, in the county of Dade and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Floor-Scraper Burnishers; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a burnisher for floor scrapers and consists of a simplel and eiiicient device of this nature designed especially for giving the proper turn to the edge of the scraper.
The invention comprises a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically dened in the appended claim.
We illustrate our invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side view of a burnisher made in accordance with our invention.
Fig. 2 is a top plan View.
Fig. 3 is a vertical central sectional view.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a plate which is adapted to be held stationary, and B is a post rising therefrom to which a detachable plate D is held by set screws, said plate beingprovided with an aperture D through which the burnisher F passes, said burnisher being provided with a spherical end I-I having universal pivotal connection with a socket formed in the inner face of the plate Dand the adjacent face of the post B. Said burnisher may be of 'any shape and is provided preferably with a convexed burnishing edge.
One end of said plate is provided with a transverse slot J for the reception of the scraper plate or bit N. O designates set screws which pass through threaded apertures in the plate A and are adapted to en gage one outer face of the scraper bit and hold the same within said slot` A gage plate, designated by letter R, is provided with slots S in its rear edge, said scraper engaged plate being designed to rest upon the upper surface of the plate A and to receive in the slots thereof said set screws. rThumb nuts, designated by letter T, are mounted upon said set screws and serve as convenient means for holding the gage in an adjusted position to regulate the angle at which the burnisher is designed to beaheld when in use in turning the edge of the scraper.
When the parts are assembled as shown in the drawings, the edge of the scraper plate may be turned uniformly by a backward and forward swinging movement of the burnisher, the conveXed edge of the same being held against the sharp edge of the scraper.
What we claim to be new is:- A burnisher forfloor Scrapers comprising a plate, slotted for the reception of a scraper bit, set screws engaging threaded apertures in said plate and adapted to engage the scraper bit, a gage plate provided with slots for the reception of set screws, nuts engaging the screws to hold the gage in adjusted positions, a post rising from the plate, a burnisher having a universal pivotal connection with said post and provided with a conveX edge. -K
In testimony whereof we hereunto aiiX our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
