In carrying'out our invention, we 'employ a substantially cylindrical casing 10 which is closed at one end by'a bottom wall 11 having a discharge o'pening 13 formed thereanal; 1ts periphery and upon one side of the casing. The partition 22 is of a width equal to the width of the hub and the plate 17, and, as will be observed, is thus adaptedto coact with the partition 19 in defining a pocket, the partition 22 being adjustable through the medium of the series of notches 21 either toward or away from the partition 19, to vary the capacity of the pocket.
Formed in the hub 16 upon one side thereof is a slot 24 and-'mounted within the hub opposite said slot is anarcuate strip 25 of less radius than the hub and is secured thereto at its extremities in any suitable manner. Formed in the strip 25 in alinement with the slot 24 is a slot 26.
The vertical wall of the casing 10'upon one side thereof is provided with an arcuate slot 27, of substantially 90 in length and removably fitted in said slot to extend freely through the slot 24 of the hub 16, isthe shank 28 of a handle 29, the said handle adjacent its outer extremity being preferably offset as best shown inFig. 3 of the drawings. Formed on the inner extremity of the shank 28 is a terminal lug 30 adapted to removably engage within the notch 26 0f the strip 25. It will be seen from the preceding description that the valve body 15 may be readily removed from the casing by detach- .ing the handle 29.
Mounted axially of the casing isa rock shaft 31, one terminal of which is screw threaded and extends freely through a suitable bore formed in the bottom wall 11 of the casing and detachably receives a nut 32 which connects the shaft with the casing.
Formed on the shaft 31 at the adjacent extremity thereof, is a squared enlargement or head 33' which removably fits within a suitable opening formed in the shank 28 of the handle 29. Consequently, when thehandle is operated to turn the valve body 15, rotary movement will be correspondingly imparted to the shaft 31.
Freely surrounding the head 33 of the shaft and bearing between the shank 28 of the handle and the bottom wall 11 of the casing is a helical sprin 34 which, at one extremity, is provided with a laterally disposed terminal lug 35 .detachably engaging within a suitable opening formed in the bot-' tom wall 11 of the casing. Theopposite extremity of the spring is extended radially and is arranged to detachably engage within a suitable opening formed in the hub 16.

Removably fitted upon the shaft 31 to rest upon the adjacent upper face of the valve body is a cap plate or partition 36 which, upon one side, is provided with a notch 37, and struck from the wall of the casing 10 is a lug 38 freely engaging in said notch. The cap plate 36 will thus, through the medium of the lug 38 be held stationary within the casing.
The cap plate 36 is of a diameter substantially equal to the internal diameter of the casing 10 and upon one side thereof is pro vided with a filling opening 39 best shown in Fig. 7 of the drawings, the said opening being similar in contour to the discharge opening 13 and being of equal area therewith.
The filling opening 39 is so arranged that, in the normal position of the valve body 15, the said opening will aline with the pocket of the said valve body as best shown in Fig.
3 of the drawings. Consequently, when the valve body is moved to normal position, the pocket thereof may be readily filled through the said opening.
The rock shaft 31 is preferablyof a length to extend above the casing 10 and, at the adjacent upper terminal thereof, is squared, to detachably receive an agitator 40 preferably provided with quadrantly spaced radial arms to which are secured laterally projecting and upstanding pins 41. The agitator is thus mounted to rotate with the rock shaft while the adjacent extremity of the shaft is screw threaded to detachably receive a nut 42 for holding the agitator in position thereon.

From the preceding description it is thought that the operation of our improved. device will be 'readily understood. Whenused in drug stores or other similarplaces,
the device will preferably be supported upon a suitable stand, conventionally shown at 47, in such position that a glass may be readily arranged beneath the funnel 1 1:. However,
it will be seen that. the device may also be readilymounted upon a wall or other structure.
In use, the receptacle 44 is filled with the material to be dispensed which, in the normal position of the valve body, may readily center the pocket in the said valve body. The handle 29 may then be operated in the manner previously described to move the said pocket to a position over the discharge openwill be immediately discharged. In this connection, particular attention' is directed to the fact that when the valve body is so moved, the plate 20 of the said valve body will, at the same time, be moved to close the filling opening 39 in the cap plate 36 as shown in detail in Fig. 8 of the drawings, so that the bulk of material within the receptacle 44 will be withheld pending the return of the valve body to normal position.
As best shown in detail in Fig. 6 of the drawings, the cap plate 36 is adapted to shut off direct communication between the interior of the receptacle and the discharge opening. In this connection, it is also to be observed that, as previously set forth, the
partition 22.1nay be adjusted toregulate the quantity of material to be discharged upon each actuation of the valve body.
Since the agitator: 40 is mounted to rotate with the rock shaft 31, the said agitator will act to stir the bulk of material within the receptacle Pl-each time the handle 29 is operated, to thusinsure a proper feeding of the material to the valve body.
Having thus described. our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-
- 1. A device of the character described including a casing provided with a discharge opening, a valve body arranged within the casing, a partition cooperating with the valve body and provided with a filling opening, yieldable means engaging the partition for holding it against movement with said filling opening arranged out of alinement ate with said openings.
2. A device of he character described including a casing provided with a discharge opening, an agitator mounted within the cast ing, a valve body independent with respect tothe agitator and provided with a hollow I hub, a partition cooperating'with the valve body and provided with a filling'opening arranged out of alinement with the discharge opening, and means projecting into the hub and operativelyconnecting the agitator with the valve body with the said means operable for rotating the valve body to selectively cooperate with said openings'and simultaneously rotating the agitator.

A device of he character described including a casing provided with'a discharge opening, a valve casing, said body including-spaced members ody arranged within the having notches formed in the upper edges thereof, a partition between the said members, and a second partition mounted to cooperate with said first mentioned partition to provide a pocket and arranged for selective engagement in corresponding notches for varying the capacity of said pocket, a partition cooperating with the valve body and provided with a filling opening arranged out of alinement with the discharge opening, and means for shifting the valve body to dispose the said pocket to selectively cooperate with the said openings.
7. A device of the character described including a casing provided with a discharge opening, a valve body rotatable within the casing and provided with a hollow hub, a partition cooperating with the valve body and provided with a filling opening arranged out of alinement with the discharge opening, and, a handle extending diametrically through the hub at one side thereof and operatively engaged with the hub at its opposite side for shifting the valve body to selectively cooperate with thesa-id openings.
8. A device of the character described including a casing provided with a discharge opening, a lug carried by the casing, a valve body rotatable within the casing, a parti-v tion cooperating with the valve body and notched to receive said lug for holding the said partition against movement, the said partition being formed with a filling opening arranged out of alinement with the discharge opening, and means for shifting the valve body to selectively cooperate with said openings.
