This invention relates to an improved telephone mouth-piece and the principal object of the invention is to provide a mouthpiece which will be antiseptic, a disinfectant being placed .in a pocket formed in the mouthpiece and provided with outlet openings communicating with the interior of the mouthpiece.
Another object of the invention is to so construct this mouth-piece that it will fit transmitters of a standard construction and to further so construct the mouth-piece that the same may be taken apart and the.dis infectant removed and replaced when it loses its strength.
This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, where1n:-
Figure 1 is a view showing the improved mouth-piece in longitudinal section and connected with a transmitter shown partially in section and partially in elevation.
Fig. 2 is a sectional View through the mouth piece taken along the line '2-2 of The body portion 10 of the mouthpiece is in the'form of'a shell having an outer wall 11 and an inner wall 12, the inner wall being extended to threaded neck 13 which screws into the union or socket 14.- This union or socket, 14 is of the construction shown in Fig. 1 and is provided with a perforated partition 15 and further is provided with an externally threaded neck 16 which will screw into the head 17 of atelephone transmitter of stand ard construction. v
This device is put in place as shown in Fig. 1 and when in use produces a sanitary mouth-piece for the telephone. A disinfectant 18 of any suitable material is placed in the pocket 19 between the inner and outer Walls of the body portion 10 and is preventedfrom being wasted through the openings 20 of the inner wall by means of a, protecting strip;.2l?iwhich may be formed provide an externally Specification of Letters Patent. tP atented Mar, 20, 1917, Application filed August 29, 1916;
Serial No. 117,518.
of ria When the disinfectant material loses strength, the mouth-piece can be removed and when the coupling 14 is disconnected from the body portion, the disinfectant contained in the pocket 19 can be removed and a new supply of disinfectant material placed in the pocket.
What is claimed is:- v
1. A mouth-piece of the character described comprising a body portion having an inner and an outer Wall providing a pocket between the Walls, a coupling having a perforated partition formed therein and provided at one end with an internally threaded socket and at the opposite end with an externally threaded neck, the inner wall of the body portion being perforated and provided with an externally threaded neck extending beyond the outer wall and fitting into the internally threaded socket ofqthe coupling, a disinfecting substance placed within the pocket of said body portion, and
paper or any other suitable sheet mate a protecting sheet placed within the pocket and extended beyond the outer wall to, provide an externally threaded neck, 'and a coupling provided with an internally threaded pocket, the threaded neck of the inner wall of the body portion fitting into the pocket of said coupler and the coupler forming a closure for the space between the inner and outer walls of the body portion.
3. A mouth-piece .of the character-de-' scribed comprising a body portion having an outer wall tnd an inner wall extending beyond the on er wall toprovide a neck, and a coupling provided with a pocket, the neck of the inner wall of the body portion fitting into thepocket of the coupler and the coupler forming a closure for the space between the inner and outer walls of the body portion.
In testimony whereof in presence of two witnesses.
