DEVICE FOR HOLDING COWS TAILS.
7 Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 13, 1917.
Application filed May 18, 1916. Serial No. 98,472.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOSUA AERNI and JOSEPH O. VENDEN, citizens of the United States, residing at Guler, in the county of Klickitat and State of WVashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Holding Cows Tails; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in carriage devices for attachment to mechanism for holding cows tails.
To this end and to such others as the invention may pertain, the same consists in the novel construction of the device and in the peculiar combination, arrangement and adaptation of parts, all as will'be more fully hereinafter described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings which, with the numerals of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification and in which Figure l is a perspective view showing our invention in its operative position.
Fig. 2 is an end view of the carrier.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the tail engaging member, and
Fig. 4 is a section on line H of Fig. 2.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by numeral, 1 designates a horizontally disposed track wire and 8 designates a bar, portions 3 of which are bent parallel to each other and are provided with registering apertures to receive the wire 1 upon which the device is movably held. A second bar, designated by numeral 2, has arms 2 and 2 bent as shown, the former of which is notched, as shown in Fig. 3, for the reception of the rod i, the upper end of which has a head 6 adapted to rest upon the upper surface of the bent portion 2. The other arm 2* of the bar 2 has a recess 5 formed in one edge thereof, as shown clearly in Fig. 4: of the drawings, which is widened near its inner end to receive the rod 4. A suitable flexible cord 7 is fastened to the lower end of the rod 4: and connects to a tail engaging member 8.
The usefulness of the device will at once be understood when it will be noted that, when the device is to be moved from one cow to another, it is simply necessary to release the engagement of the tail-engaging member 8, after which the carrier may be moved a suflicient distance along the wire 1 to adapt it for use for the next cow to be milked.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim to be new is A carriage device for supporting cow tail holding devices, comprising a bar having portions bent parallel to each other and apertured to receive a track wire, a second bar having laterally extending arms, one of which is fastened to said first referred to bar and provided with a recess in its edge, the other arm having a notched end, a rod engaging said notch and recess, said rod having a head resting upon the upper surface of the notched arm.
In testimony whereof we hereunto aflix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
