To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE B. BIRoN, a-
and useful Improvements in Surgical Instruments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention consists of certain improvements in surgical instruments and relates especially to a hand manipulated vacuum forming device for producing a sucking eifect upon limited areas of the human body, such for instance as is desirable in the removal of pimples, blackheads, boils, or the like.
The objects are to produce an instrument of this class of simple and sanitary'construction and one that is possible of wide range of adjustment to suit varied circumstances.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the further description of the device.

1 and 2 represent a pair of pincer like handles intended to be grasped in the hand of the operator and the device manipulatedthereby. I
These nozzles may be madeof hard rubber or metal or a combination of both, as practice may prove desirable, and various other forms may be adopted without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Within the cylinder 9 is reciprocally operative a piston 14:, fixed to the rod 15, the upper end of which is pivotally attached at 16 to the extreme end of the arm 5 which is an integral part of the handle 1. Thus by the closing and opening of the handles 1 and 2, the piston 14; is reciprocated within' the cylinder 9 and inasmuch as the separation of the handles 1 and 2 causes the piston to assume its lowermost position within the cylinder 9, the closing of the handles will tend to withdraw the piston 14, causing a suction of air upwardly within the nozzle attached thereto and the force of which suction 'will be governed by the pressure upon the handles.
The handles being normally held apart, the-piston will remain adjacent the bottom of the cylinder and in operation. The instrument will be thus held within the hand, the nozzle placed snugly over that portion of the skin to be treated, when the handles will. be closed either suddenly or gradually as desired, for the successful removal of the objectionable substance, as before stated.
The device is so constructed that an extreme closed position of the handles will withdraw the piston entirely from the cylinder and thus provide means for convenient cleansing of the same, and the nozzle being readily removable, cooperates in this essential function.
It is evident that various modifications and changes in the construction illustrated be resortedto without departing from the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. The combination with a cylinder and piston cooperatively mounted within a pair threaded member formed integral with the lower end of the cylinder and of considerably less diameter than the cylinder and a nozzle removably attached to the externally screw threaded member.
2. The combination with a cylinder and piston cooperatively mounted within a pair of fulcrumed handles, of a member formed integral with the lower end or the cylinder and of considerably less diameter and a nozzle attached to said member having a double walled, skin engaging terminus, for the purpose described. 7
