TES PTEN' EDWARD JAMES DUNN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CEMENT-BLOCK MOLD.
Patented Feb. 27, 1917.
Original application filed May 29, 1913, Serial No. 770,620. Divided and this application filed'October 29,
1915. Serial No. 58,532.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD J. DUNN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Bronx, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gement-Block Molds, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to improvements in molds, and more particularly has reference to a mold adapted for use in molding or casting blocks of concrete or other suitable material.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 illustrates in perspective partly broken away a mold embodying an application of my invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view partly in sectionillustrating a part of the mold, and Fig. 3 a similar view of another part.
1-, 5, 6 and 7 are the side walls of the mold, and 8 the base thereof. In the base of the mold is suitably secured a suitable rectangular structure provided with the walls 9, 10, 11 and 12 and the .walls 4.7 of the mold are preferably provided with suitable projecting members such as 13 across the outer ends of which is provided suitable strips such as 14, the ends of which are secured in the top and bottom of the mold in suitable recesses such as indicated by the reference character 15.
The recess 16 in the bottom and a similar one in the top of themold is preferably provided to receive the rectangular structure 9 to 12 inclusive, and recesses such as 15 are preferably provided to receive the ends of Copies of this patent may be obtained for apart after the cement or other material hasset and a block is easily formed provided with hollow walls with ports leading therefrom to the outside, a form of block which.
dries very quickly and allows for a circulation of air which is most desirable for building purposes.
Of course it will be understood that various modifications may bemade without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
I claim:
1. A mold having an outer wall and inner core, longitudinally extending strips spaced between said core and said wall, and transverse strips secured between said first mentioned strips and said wall.
2. A mold having an outer wall and inner core, longitudinally extending strips spaced between said core and said wall, and transverse strips secured between said first mentioned strips and said wall, a bottom for said mold and recesses therein for said longitudinal strips and said core, and recesses in said wall for said transverse strips.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of a witness.
EDWARD JAMES DUNN.
