WIND-SHIELD "CLEANER.
To all whom/it may concern:
Be it known that I, GLEN D. FLEAK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Muskogee,-in the county of Muskogee and State of Oklahoma, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Wind- Shield Cleaners, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in windshield cleaners,'and hasfor its object to provide a device of the character specified by means of which a wind-shield may be cleaned from within the auto without the necessity of extending the arm beyond the shelter of the car.

The present embodiment of the invention I is shown in connection with a Wind-shield having the usual frame. An arc-shaped or curved supporting member 3 is providedin the form of a split sleeve, the split being I Wide" enough to permit the passage of the frame member 1 of'the wind-shield. This member has-secured to'thef'inner portion thereof, and at approximately the center, a block of rubber .or the like, the said block having the face adjacent to the frame concaved forming a sliding shoe for engaging the frame, and this block is'held in place in the split sleeve 3 by means of a clip '5 which is secured to the sleeve.
Clamping plates '6 arepivotallv connected with the opposite side edges of the split, as indicated at 7, and each of these clamping plates is normally spring pressed at its upper end toward the other, that is, toward the center of the sleeve by means of a spring 8. These springs are arranged between'the plates and the sleeve, and each plate is covered on the face adjacent to the wind-shield with a facin 9 of leather or the like, to prevent scratchmg of the frame or the glass. Normally the clamping plates occupy the 'dotted line position of Fig. 2, and it'will be evident that when-the'sleeveis slipped over the frame, the clamping plates will firmly clamp both the frame and glass in such inanner that the sleeve will be firmly supportedon the frame, yet may be moved from end Specification of Letters Patent. A crank 12 is secured to one end the bracket 10 adjacent to the arm 13. This spring normally presas the shaft 11 toward the crank 12, that is, toward the interior of the car, making thus firm pressure of the rubber 16 against the glass.
In operation, the parts are arranged as shown inFigs. 1 and 2, and when not in use the sleeve 3 may be moved toward one end of the shield. When it is desired to clean the glass, the crank 12- is swung to cause the arm 13 to swing as indicated-by the semi-circular dotted line in Fig.1. The
arrangement may be such that the arm 13 and the squeegee members will swing from one end of the windshield to the other, cleaning thus practically the entire expanse of glass at one operatlon. The device may be of small relative size, being mounted to move from end to .end of the shield and to clean portions thereof in succession.
