To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, NATHAN J. KRoLL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and 1mproved Combination Sleeper-Carriage and Go-Cart, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved go cart and baby carriage of thesleeper type,sarranged to-perinit quick and convenient converting'of the go-cart into a sleeper baby carriage or vice versa, thus permitting'the use of the vehicle by an infant for outdoor sleeping purposes and providing for use of the'vehicl as a go-cart as the child is growing up.

In order to accomplish the desired result, use is made of a running gear for a baby carriage and a bodymade in front and rear sections hinged together, the rear section of the body being permanently mounted on the said running gear, and a foldable'connection between the said running gear and the front section of the body to support'the front section in an extended position, the said body in either of its two positions being 7 closed at the bottom and sides.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying draw-- ings forming apart of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

the inner faces, as indicated in the drawings. The bottoms 13 and 16 are'connected with each other at their adjacent edges by hinges 19 to allow of swinging the front section 11 upward into extended position with the bottom 13 flush with thebottom -16 with a view .to provide a sleeper body, that is, one closed at the bottom, sides-and ends and only open'at the top. 1 The front section 11 may be swung downward so that its bottom 13 extends at an angle to the bottom 16 of the rear section 12 to provide a go-cart, as plainly indicated in Fig. 2.

22 and 23 carrying the rear and front wheels'24 and'25, respectively. The frame 21 is provided at its rear end with the usual handle extension 26 to permitof conveniently pushing the carriage along. The front section 11 is connected bysprings 27 with the frame 21 and also by sectional'links 30, 31, of which the link 30 pivotally connected with the under side of the bottom 13, and thelink 31 is pivotally connected with the front axle 23. 30 and 31 with each other is preferably in the form of a clamping screw to hold the links locked in either extended position, as shown in Fig.1, or Fig. 2, although it may be loosened in the latter position to permit springs 27 to-yieldingly support the front section 11.

Each extension 41 is provided with a shoulder 42 adapted to abut against a corresponding. shoulder 43 on the side 17 so as to assist in holding the front section 11 in dropped position, as will be readily understood by reference to Fig. 2. The'sides 14 of the front section 11 are provided with downward extensions 44 extending below the bottom 13 and similar downward extensions 45 are arranged onthe sides 17 and extend below the bottom 16, the

forward edge4'6' of each extension 45" being dropped position,

extended rearwardly and forwardly and adapted to form an abutment for the rear edge 47 of the corresponding extension 44 of the front section 11 to hold the latter in as indicated in Fig. 2.

In order to cover the edges 46 and47 whether they are abutting against each other, as shown in Fig. 2, or are spaced apart, as shown in Fig. 1, use is made of connecting plates 50 attached at their outer faces to the extensions 45 and extending forwardly onto the extensions 44. By reference to Fig. 1, it will be noticed that the covering plates 50 besides covering all the joints provides an ornament for the carriage.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the front section 11 when in extended position as shown in Fig. 1, or in folded'position as shown in Fig. 2, has its sides 14 practically continuous with the sides 17 of the rear section 12, and hence the baby carriage can be used for sleeping purposes as it is fully protected on the sides, or it can be used as a go-cart as above explained.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A baby carriage of the type described, comprising a running gear, a body made in front and rear sections hinged together and of which the rear section is fixed on the running gear and the front section is adjustable to a forwardly and downwardly inclined position in use, and a foldable con nection between the running gear and the said front body section to support the latter in an extended position, the said body in either of its two positions being closed at the bottom ends and sides.

2. A baby carriage of the type described, comprising a running gear, a body made in front and rear sections hinged together and of which the rear section is fixed on the running gear and provided in its sides with recesses, the said front section having its sides extended in a rearward direction and engaging the said recesses, and a foldable connection between the running gear and the said front body section to support the latter in an extended position, the said body in either of its two positions being closed at the bottom ends and sides.

3. A baby carriage of the type described, provided with a body comprising a front section and a rear section, the sections having bottoms hinged together permitting of adjustment of the front section to a forwardly and downwardly inclined position, the rear section having a back and sides, of which the sides are provided above the bottom with recesses open at the front edge of the sides, and the said front section having a front and sides, of which the sides Copies of this patent may be obtained for are provided above the bottom with rear- Ward extensions projecting into the said recesses, and movable therein when the front section is adjusted.

4. A baby carriage of the type described, provided with a body comprising a front section and a rear section, the sections having bottoms hinged together, the rear section having a back and sides, of which the sides are provided above the bottom with recesses open at the front edge of the sides, and the said front section having a front and sides of which the sides are provided above the bottom with rearward extensions engaging the said recesses, the said sides of the rear section being provided with downward extensions extending below the bottom of the rear section, and the front edges of the said downward extensions being inclined downwardly and rearwardly, the said sides of the front section having downward extensions extending below the bon tom of the front section, the rear edges of r the said downward extensions of the front section being adapted to abut against the said front inclined edges of the downward extensions of the rear section.

5. A baby carriage of the type described, provided with a body comprising a front section and a rear section, the sections having bottoms hinged together, the rear section having a back and sides of which the sides are provided above the bottom with recesses open at the front edge of the sides, and the said front section having a front and sides of which the sides are provided above the bottom with rearward extensions engaging the said recesses, the said sides of the rear section being provided with downward extensions extending below the bottom of the rear section and the front edges of the said downward extensions being inclineddownwardly and rearwardly, the said sides of the front section having downward extensions extending below, the bottom of the front section, the rear edges of the said downward extensions of the front section being adapted to abut against the said front inclined edges of the downward extensions ofthe rear section, and covering plates fixed on the downward extensions of the rear section, and projecting forwardly to cover the rear edges of the downward extensions of the front section whether the latter is in extended or dropped position.
