Be; it known that 1, JOHN AULD, a citizen cago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and use- I am aware that there are several eraser devices on the market comprising an eraser member and a brush member but in all'these devices the brush member is rigid in reference to the eraser and projects radially therefrom or is tangential. In either'case the brush member is more or less in the way when the eraser is to be used, and when the brush is to be used the device must be turned around, this of course taking time besides; Furthermore,

permanently secured to the eraser member, become useless as soon as the eraser has been used up. Alsoin these earlier devices the brush holder is constructed usually of sheet metal, and this, together with the fact that the device becomes useless after the eraser has been used up, makes the device very expensive. l a

'One of the important objects of my invention is to provide an erasing device com prising an eraser member and a brush member but in which such members are not permanently connected, the brush member being so constructed that it can be detachably applied to an eraser member with the advantage that when the eraser is used up the brush can be applied to another eraser member, the brush being practically indestructible. Another important object is toprovide such arrangement that the members of the device are relatively adjustable in order that one member can assume various positions in relation to the other, this enabling the device to be used with greater convenience and" efficiency. This groove is formed by deflecting the plate outwardly along a line between its eriphery and'itscenter. Into this pocket I? the base Z) of the loop Z can be readily inserted'by forcing .the base between the rubber disk and theplate until it reaches the pocket, the remaining part of the loop being preferably circular and of a diameter slightly larger than the plate 11 as clearly shown in Fig. 1. With this arrangement the eraser and brush members are relatively adjustable and the members can be swung into parallelism or at angles with each other. This enables the clamp eraser member to be used without being interferejd' withby the brush member and in such manner that the brush member can be used/after an erasing operation without having-first to turn the device around to get the brush into operative position. As shown in Fig. 1, the brush member may be swung to substantially right angles with the erasing member and the eraser member held in-ver tical' position between the thumb and forefinger and with the forefinger extending through the loop Zto hold the brush member in its angular position.
