Application filed July i2. 1915, Seiil N0. 39,246.
.that is instruments which are adapted to use flat dink records. and the object of my inv'enn .tion is to produce an exceedingly simple. compnet, and inexpensive maehine which can he easily operated, and which has; Supe rior qualities of tone production. My invention is intended particularly to :provide an exeeei'iingly 'compact arrangement of the motor, disk table, ione :ii-in and horn with relation to eaeh nher, and io provide zi. een,- neetion loe-tween ille *cone arm and duplex outlets to a. horn, said outlets being' of diff-- ferent Sizes :ind adapted io piek up different tones from the reprodneer. in my inveniion the inner portions of the horn :ire divided afs stzi'ted, have diliierent sized inlets corresponding to the outlets oi? the ione arm, sind the divided poriionsinerge 'inio one monili' portionwhieh occupies practically the niniee of one side oi the 'frame or canine; My in- Vention is aise intended 'igo provide :i very, flexible connection between the ione erin and the horn which permits the tone arno. to he turned :1nd readilyyinoved either Vertr cally or laterally, and i'iniher to arrange the horn in, respect to the motor so thai'. the two ports will not interfere with each nher structurally and the cese or cabinet een therefore he made very .SimpleA and comperativelyI small.
Reference is to be had to the accompany ing drawings forming :i part of this speeiii cation, in which similar reference eharneers indicate' eorresponijling parte in all the views'.
lrig'nre 1i is a` plan View oi "the nniehine embodying in i/ invention.

The motor is indicated by dotted lines, and any uen-zii ,motor een be employed. I have shown the mechine pio vided with the ordinary indicator 15 and with the starting and stopping mechanism.
i6. The machine has a. reiirodneer l? een neeting with an enlarged. ione nr'ni 18 which generally horizontal direction, und can be freely moved hiterally or swung i'ei'tieaily. This, ione nini is 'provided with a'down\'ard bend 1Q. which iiension 9.1, and this extends generally vertigeally 'but has :i interni bend where ii merges inio o. short horizontal eminent-ion ehe iwo parte being integral, and the member being Smaller et one end ne Siiown zii 'han at ehe opposite end an illnetiaied ai I5 (see Fig. 2).

find that a better tone effect is obtained Where the tone arm delivers through a plurality of outlets of different sizes into the horn. In any event it is clear that a better result is obtained by this structure than Where a single opening from the tone arm 't0 the horn is had.
It Will be noted that the arrangement is extremely simple, that the tonearm has all the necessary freedom of movement, and that the machine as a Whole is very compact.
