IMPROVEMENT IN CASES FOR PIN-PACKAGES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 121,492, 'dated December 5, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, UHAUNOY O. ORosBY, of Milford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Case for Pin-Package; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents in- Figure 1 avertical central section; Fig. 2, the blank from which the bottom is formed; and in Fig. 3, a side view of the bottom after being brought into the required shape.
This invention relates to an improvement in boxes for arranging pins stuck in accordance with my application for patent which was filed August 1, 1871, the object being to raise the mass of pins gradually from the edge toward the center, so that the heads of each successive row will be higher than the next outer row and it consists in the construction of a box or case the bottom of which rises gradually from the outer edge to the center into conical form.
The body of the box A is formed from pasteboard or other suitable material of the diameter or size required for the package. The bottom is cut into circular form, from similar material, of larger diameter than the box, and divided from the center to one edge, as at a, Fig. 2. At the slot at the edges are overlapped until the desired shape is given, and the diameter of the bottom contracted to the diameter of the box, as seen in Fig. 3. The bottom is united to the box in the usual manner for paper-boxes.
If preferred, a gore may be cut from the bottom and the edges brought together to give the required conical shape.
WVhile the best and most practical shape for the box is circular, it may be of any other desired form, it only being essential that the bottom should rise toward the center.
I claim as my invention- The herein-described box as a case for the arrangement of pins, substantially as set forth.
