To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, Gus'rav J. KNAAGK and CHARLES J. MAnQUanD'r, citizens of the United States, residing at Princeton, in the county ot' Green Lake, State of lVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in l'leating-lrunis; and we do hereby declare the followingl to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The present invention is directed to improvements in heating drums, and has for` its object to construct a device of this char acter adapted for direct attachment to a.

heating stove.

A further object of the invention is. to provide a drum so constructed and mounted as to receive directly from the stove pipe the products of combustion, whereby the heat which usually escapes to the chimney is utilized for heating purposes.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a drum attachment for heating stoves designed to utilize the waste heat and consequently reduce the consumption of fuel.

lith these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevationrof the device, showing the same in place on the stove. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the device. Fig. 3 is atop plan view. Fig. L1 is a sectional view on line -1-4 of Fig. l. Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 5-5 of Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is a .sectional` view on line 6-6 of Fig. 1 Fig. 7 is a bottom plan view Fig. S is a sectional view on line 8 8 of Fig. 3.

Referring to the drawing 1 indicates a heating stove of conventional form, and 2 the drum, said drum having its inner and outer walls 3 and t, respectively, curved, the latter wall being adapted to lie adjacent the body of the stove 1; The rear wall has secured thereto, and adjacent the lower end thereof, angle brackets 5, said brackets having their arms 6 provided with slots 7 which are engaged by the clamping bolts 8, said bolts being also engaged in the slots 9 of the angle brackets 10, the arms 11 of which being adapted to rest against the body of the stove, and at which time the forward edge .the length thereof, as at of the bottom 12 of the drum engages the lire pot skirting 13 of the stove. Since the angle brackets 10 are adjustable, it is obvious that the drum can be supported in a direct vertical position,

'the lower ends of said turn buckles being suitably connected to the wall l of the drum, said turn buckles serving to prevent the drum from tilting. rl`he top 17 of the drum has formed thereon flanges 18 and 19 which surround the openings 2O and 21. rEheV stove pipe 22, which leads from the combustion chamber of the stove, is connect-ed to the flange 18, while the flange 19 is connected to the pipe, not shown, which leads to the chimney.

Having its ends connected to the front and rea- r walls 3 and 4 of the drum, is a plate 23, and having its lower edge connected to the plate is a deflecting plate 24, which extends from the wall 3 along the edge of the plate for substantially half miuating in a plate 26 which extends transversely of the plate 23 and is curved as at 27. and is thence extended for engagement with the wall of the drum, as clearly shown in Fig. 5 of the drawing.Y By providing the deflecting plate 2l, Llues 2S and 29 are provided, the flue 23 serving to receive the products of combustion from the pipe 22, while the flue 29 directs the products of combustion to the chimney pipe.

Extending downwardly from the side edges of the plate 23 are baffle plates 30, which have their front and rear vedges secured in any suitable manner to the walls 3 and respectively, the lower ends of said plates stopping at a point above the bottom 12 of the drum.

An intermediate baille plate 3l is provided and extends Yupwardly from the bottom 12 of the drum and between the baflle plates 30, thereby providing a circuitous passage, as clearly shown in Fig. 6 of the drawing, since the upper edge of the baffle plate 30 is spaced below the plate 23. The bottom 12 is provided with an opening 32 on each side of the baille plate 31, said openings being normally closed by doors 33, which operate in the guides 34:, whereby said doors can'be readily removed so that the drum can be cleaned.

lVhat is claimed is Aheating druni, lneans for detaehably and adjustably connecting the druin to a store, said drum having a horizontal plate extended from its 'front to its rear wall and spaced from the side walls of t1e drum and top ol' the drum, a defleoting plate extending from the front wall to the rear Wall and having a part disposed transversely between the plate and top or' the drum to provide independent flues, baffle plates depending from the side edges of the plate and having their lower edges spaced troni the bottom of the drinn, an intermediate battle plate having its lower edge connected to the bottoni of the drum and its upper edge disposed above the lower edges of the first nained battle plates, and a pipe leading from the stove to one of the lues for directing the products oit combustion into the adjacent flue, whereby the products of combustion will pass around thel1 baille plates and to the remaining Ilue7 as and for the purpose set forth.
