My invention relates to movable loading hoppers and has rams object the provision of a new and improved device capable of use for loading and unloading.
My invention in one of its forms contemplates the provision of a suitable framework adapted to support a hopper movable upon said framework from a loading to an unloading position. f My application herein is a divisional application of a prior application Serial No. 8103M, filed J an. 8, 1914.
My invention contemplates also the provision of a hopper of unbalancedconstruction, the purposes of which will appear hereinafter.
My invention also contemplates means whereby after the hopper has been moved to its unloading'position it may be slightly elevatedto, withdraw the snout of the hopper from the deposited material.
I will explain my invention more in detail by referring to the accompanying draW ings illustrating the same in which- Figure 1 is an end view of the structure illustrating features of my invention as applied to a stationary device; Fig. 2 is a side view of the structure illustrated in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of a detail of construction alongrline b-b of Fig. 1, and Fig. dis a detail perspective view of the hopper elevating arm.
In general my improved device consists of a preferably collapsible framework which may be set up between a bin or device from which material is to be unloaded and a wagon or other receptacle into which the material is to be deposited. The framework carries a hopper which rolls upon this framework from one limiting position to the other, the arrangement being such that the hopper 1 as shown in the illustration may occupy the position 26 when in its receiving position, and occupy the position shown in,

The hopper is unsymmetrically arranged so that it is necessary to hold the hopper in its loading position so that when it is released it will roll automatically into the discharge position. Means are then provided to slightly elevate the hopper from its discharge position to withdraw it from the discharged material, if that is necessary, through the agency of instrumentalities which will be presently'explain ed.
Referring to the illustrations I show the hopper 1 as suitably operating upon rails 3, 4;. These rails however are carried by a collapsible framework consisting of the bars 5, 6, 7 and 8. These bars are united by a suitable shaft 9 and are held in position through suitable chains 10 and 11. The hopper is provided with chains 12, 12, to be held in position by a finger 13. This finger is pivotally carried bya handle 14: held in a suitable catch 15 and released at will, as is clearly evident from the illustration to either hold the hopper in its limiting position or to permit its release. The hopper is provided with pins 16 adapted to engage a finger 17 which finger is carried by a bell crank lever pivoted at 18.
When the hopper and other parts are in the position shown by the full lines of Fig. 1, it will be seenthat it has just deposited its contents. Now it may be that the snout of this hopper upon discharging the material still projects into the discharged material. In order to clear the snout. of the hoper without having some of this discharged material fall back into the hopper, T rotate the lever 19 in a clockwise direction (Fig. 1) through the agency of the chain 20, which may be rolled u on the drum 21. This drum is rotatedi'through the agency of the ratchet whee 22 which it carries and the associated pawl 23 under the control of the operating arm 24:. pawl 25 is provided to hold the drum in a given position until this pawl 25 is released to permit the bell crank lever to again occupy the position shown in full lines in Fig. 1'. The hopper 1 is provided with suitable channels so that it may properly ride upon the rails.

Having however thus described my invention, it will be clear that it is susceptible of many and various modifications without departing from its spirit.
Having however thus described one form which my invention may take, what I claim as new-and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: I
1. A device, of the character described comprising a hopper carrying framework, a hopper adapted to roll on said framework p from one limiting position to the other, and means adapted when said hopperis in a limiting position to elevate said hopper to withdraw a projecting portion of said hopper from discharged material, said means including a pin provided upon said hopper,
and a pivotally mounted finger carried by said framework.
2. A device of the character described comprising ahopper carrying framework, a hopper adapted to roll on said framework from one limiting position to the other, and means adapted when said hopper isin a limiting position to elevate said hopper to a hopper adapted to roll on said framework from one limiting position to the other, and
.means adapted when said hopper is in a limiting position to elevate said hopper relative to said framework to. thereby withdraw .a projecting portion of said hopper from discharged material.
