IMPROVEMENT IN TRAVELERS FOR CART AND DRAY $HAFTS.'
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 121,184, dated November 21, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. MCGLITRE, of
Alexandria, in the coimty of Alexandria and State of Virginia, have invented a new and Improved Traveler for Cart and Dray Shafts; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon. This invention has for its object the production of an improved traveler for cart and drayshafts and con sists in constructing said traveler with rollers, balls, or other friction devices, as will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawing, Figure 1 represents one form of my invention as applied to a cart-shaft, and Figs. 2, 3, and 4, views of different forms of the traveler detached.
A represents the traveler, which may be of any proper form or construction. a a represent friction-rollers or wheels, one or more of which is applied to the traveler in any proper manner. If preferred one or more balls may be employed.
By means of this improved construction the traveler is adapted to perform its proper functionthat is, to move freely upon the rod-whi.le in the ordinary construction it is moved with great difficulty.
I do not limit myself to any particular form of traveler nor to any particular arrangement of friction devices; but
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- A traveler provided with friction devices, as described.
