To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, HERMAN F; Benn. of Bronxville, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, and HAL fi ter- FORD, of Plainfield, in the county of'Union Jersey, have jointly in vented a certain new and useful Improvement in Locomotive-Engines, ofiwhicli improvement the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to locomotive engines for heavy of the class in which two groups or sets'of coupled driving wheels are rotated by separate and independent pairs of steam' c ylinders, and its object is to provide a locomotive of such class, in which the maximum haulin capacity derivable from the operation of two pairs of cylinders may be exerted with the restriction, to the minimum lengt of the rigid wheel base, maintenance of invariable lateral relation of the boiler to the frame and. cylinders, with the consequent elimination of joints in steam conveying pipes.
The improvement claimed is hereinafter fully set forth.
