Be it .known that l', Anreise Terroir, i citizen of the United States9 :residing et irtliol, .in tlie county of 1iWorcester and ,tritate olf Miieeeclinsetts7 lieve iiii'entcd new and useful lniprovcinents in Sanitary Drinking) Fountains, oli' wliicli the following is speci.- iiciition.
'lliis invention relates to new end useful iinprorciiicnts in drinking fountains.
llicchief clin iicteristic of this invention resides in the provision olf tlie device oi this character having :i plurality of nozzles, tlie months of Wliicli rire directed to :i connnoii point whereby the streams electing from tlie nozzles will .intersect eaicli other to forni :i vertical stre/ini freni wliicli :i person nia); drink without tlie liability oit becoming infected,
Another iinpiirtiint clnirecterietic oie thin invention in to provide :i device of this cli-iriictcr lievingineinis for :idjusti tlic noz- 'files io rin-y tlie inclination oi tlie sireiiiiis whereby the lieiglit oi the vert-ical streeiii will lie rnried accordingly.
finotlicr inilliortiint characteristic oif tliie invention resides iii the provision cfu derice of lliis clizirzicler lniring incensi for coin trolling` tiie llow ol waiter tlirongg'li eiicli tlie nozzles und independently of encli other.
Utlier cliiirncteristics will appear :is tlie specifica-tion is rend in connection with tlie :icconipiinyiiig drawings in ii'liicliz` Figure l is :i top-pluri View of tlie fonntain constructed in :iccordzince with niy invention. liig, 2 is e bottom plan View. Referring to the drawings in detail, l designates :i basin formeel ol any suitable material and Wliicli is preiferiibly rectzin ruler in forniiition. Arranged upon tlie underside oi: tiie bzisin tlie supply pipe il wliicli lies n portion tliercol:u extending' downwardly ifi-oni tlie lizisin, While tlie remaining; portion ,lies parallel to the under side of tlie basin es et 3. This Snort Section 3 ol? the supply pipe is provided Willi brencli pipes which extend it right angles in opposite di'rectioiifs and in tl sinne plane with tlie supply pipe. lii practice it lies been 'found is o. ,slight variation in tlie flow of 'Water from the respective noi. thereby causing :in irregular vertical stream it the coinn'ion point of iiitersection, therefore 'l' lrfifve provided encli of tire liriincli pipes 5 n i lienfl velifcs l2 whereby tlie flow of Weiter tlirouigii eecli o ric/inzien regg: l i
that there pendently of. each other so that respective streams will have an equal amount of pressu-re to provide a steady vertical stream.
The horizontal portion 3 of the supply pipe 2 is provided with a valve 13, the stem of which extends through and beyond the vertical side of the basin 'as' at 14. Surrounding the stem is a coil spring which is adapted to normally close the valve and retain the stem in projected 'position on the basin, whereby, upon depressing of the stem the valve will be opened as vv1ll be under stood. From this construetionmit will be seen that the Water will only be flowing `when'the valve stem is depressed and upon relieving the stem of pressure the supply of water will be automatically cut off.
When it is desired to shut the supply o f "water off entirely, I have provided Aa horizontal portion 3 of the supply pipe with a hand valve 16 of any suitable construction, the same being operable from the under l side of the basin as is shown in the drawings.
The bottom Wall of the basin is provided with a drain` outlet 17 which is preferably located at the opposite side of the bottom from that of the supplypipe, and communicates with the usual drain pipe 18, the pipe being formed with the usual trapt 19.
' Although I have described a specific means for mounting and adjusting the nozzles and have specifically stated the relative posi`` tions of the nozzles, I Wish it to be clearly understood-`- that I do not confine myself to the limitations described as I `consider it Within the scope of the invention to construct and arrange the nozzles in any manner to produce the result desired.
It is thought from the foregoing taken -in connection with the accompanying drawings, that the construction and operation of this device will be apparent to those skilled in the art Without further description, and' that minor changes in the size, shape and in each of the branch pipes for controlling the flow of water independently of each other.

8. A drinking fountain comprising a basin, a. supply pipe, branch pipes formed in said supply pipe, discharge nozzles mounted on each of said branch pipes and disposed at remote points upon said basin to direct their streams of Water to a common point l`above the basin to form a vertical stream,
means'for adjusting the nozzles to vary the Ainclination of the stream, valves mounted in each of the branch pipes for controlling the flow of Water independently of each other, and a valve within said supply pipe and controllable from the to of the basin.
In testimony whereof I a X my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
