CHARLES G. SIMONDS, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, AND GEORGE W. DOERR, 0F CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
AMUSEMENT DEVICE.
' Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 5, 1916.
Application led J' une 15, 1916. Serial No. 103,750.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that we, CHARLES Gr. SI- MoNDs and GEORGE W. Donnie, citizens of the United States, and residents, respectively, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Visconsin, and of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Amusement Device, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to amusement devices adapted to be held in the hand or worn as badges or pendants; and the object of our invention is to provide a picture card or plate which will snap at the will of the operator and produce a sound to voice the picture thereon.
Our invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which- Figure 1 is a view looking at the face of a plate having thereon a picture of the front end of a cannon; Fig. 2 a section of the device taken on the line L -b; Fig. 3 the other face of the plate having thereon a picture of the rear end of a cannon; Fig. 4, a view looking at the edge of the plate in the direction of the line a-b,' and Fig. 5, a view of the face of a plate similar to Fig. l, eX- cept that the picture thereon is that of an animal instead of a cannon.
When made to represent a cannon, the plate consists of a circular disk 1, having projections 2 and 3. A picture of a front view of a cannon, having thereon the printing Danger ahead Stand behind the gun, covers side 4: of the plate, and a picture showing the rear view of cannon and the word Preparedness covers the other side 5 of the plate. There is a hole 6 in the plate to receive a supporting means, such as hook 7 attached by a ring 8, so that the device may be Worn as a badge or pendant. The plate is made of stiff material, preferably of steel. It is slightly dished or bulged making it concavo-convex as shown in Fig. 2. When held in the hand as shown in Fig. 4, and ieXed by pressing the thumbs Copies of this patent may be obtained for 9 and 10 against the convex side 5, the marginal portion of the plate is put under tention which forces the plate to suddenly bulge in the opposite direction making side 4 convex and side 5 concave. This action produces a loud report quite suggestive of being produced by the gun-picture. The action and report can be repeated any number of times by thus reversing the concavoconveXity of the plate.
In Fig. 5 a side of a disk is shown having thereon the picture of an animals head instead of a cannon. When such pictures are used the eifect produced is that the animal pictured made the sound. Thus we do not wish to confine our invention to a particular picture.
What we claim isl. An amusement device consisting of a concavo-convex picture card or plate adapted to snap on reversing its concavo-convexity and thereby produce a sound to voice the picture thereon.
2. An amusement device consisting of a concavo -conveX picture plate adapted to snap on reversing its concavo-convexity and thereby produce a sound to voice the picture thereon, and means for supporting the device as a badge or pendant.
8. An amusement device consisting of a picture card or plate having a reversible bulge adapted to snap and produce a sound to imitate sounds made by the thing pictured thereon.
4. In an amusement device, a plate having pictures on the faces thereof and having a reversible bulge therein adapted to snap and produce a sound to attract attention to the pictures.
5. In an amusement device, a plate having faces representing a gun and having a reversible bulge therein adapted to snap and produce a sound to imitate a guns report.
