To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, MARTIN LUTHER TEwnLL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Crawford and State of Kansas have invented certain useful Improvements in Screen-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

The present invention relates to improvements in screen fasteners and supporting means, one object of the invention being the provision of a fastening and supporting device by means of which-a window screen may be securely locked in place and at the same time be hung from the top of the frame so as to be readily swung upwardly or attached at will.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a device of this kind which is easy to install and remove, which is simple, inexpensive and durable in construction, and which leaves no unsightly features when the screen is removed.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of a screen and window frame attached by the present device. Fig. 2 is a detail view of the hook locking member in locked position. Fig. 3 is a detail view taken from another angle.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 designates the window-frame, and 6 the screen.

Attached for swinging movement to the screen are the two supporting members 7 and 8, each one ofwhich is made similar and is provided with the screen engaging terminal 9 and with the staple engaging terminal 10, the terminals 10 of they respective members 7 and 8 being extended in opposite directions.

The staples 9 support the members 7 and 8 so that the same may be swung a limited distance, the limiting staple 11 of the member 8 being attached to the screen 6 and embracing such member 8 for limited swinging movement. The long limiting staple 12 also embraces the member 7 and supports the locking member 13, one terminal of the staple 12 passing through the openings 14. Thus the device 13 may have its rightangled terminal 15 moved into and out of wedging contact with the member 7, and hold the terminal 10 in engagement with the supporting staple 17, which is attached to the window frame 5, a similar supporting staple 17 being adapted to receive the hooked terminal 10 of the member 8.

By this means, the screen 6 is supported for outward swinging movement.

What I claim as new is:

1. The combination with a supporting frame and a screen frame, of a hanger therefor, including two swinging hooks and cooperating receiving staples for the hooks, a limiting means for each hook, and a pivoted locking member for cooperation with one of the limiting means to hold its respective hook in screen hanging position.

2. The combination with a window frame and a screen frame, of a hanger for the frame, including two pivotally outwardly swinging hooks carried by the screen frame, receiving members for the hooks carried by the window frame, a limiting member attached to the frame and embracing each hook, and a pivoted wedging member carried by the screen and cooperating with the limiting member of one hook to hold the hook in supporting position. The combination with a window frame and a screen frame, of a hanger for the frame, including two pivotally outwardly swinging hooks carried by the screen frame, receiving members for the hooks carried by the-window frame, a limiting member attached to the frame and embracing each hook, a flat piece of metal provided with a pivoting end and with an offset end for engagement with one of the limiting members and for cooperation with its hook to hold the hook in hanging position.
