l f'm m m m] mp\ I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN BRADBURY, OF BERLIN, ASSIGNOR TO HART MANUFACTURING COM- PANY, OF KENSINGTON, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN BIRD-CAGE HOOKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,569, dated November 7, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN BRADBU'RY, of Berlin, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bird-Cage Hooks, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure I is a side elevation of a bird-cage hook embodying my invention.
A designates the ordinary plate or base for securing the device to the wall. In the plate A is secured the ends of a wire hook, B, and its wire brace C. A little back of the end c of the hook B the brace C and the body of the hook B meet each other, at which point a metallic knob or boss, D, is cast thereon, so as to embrace the body of the hook B and the end of the brace C and hold the same rmly together. The broken lines in Fig. I show the position of the wire in the interior of the boss D.
By my invention the brace and hook are connected without the use of acid, and, therefore, are not liable to become detached by rusting out. The hook proper is composed of single wire, and the connection of the hook and brace is made in an ornamental and substantial manner, thereby removing all the objections4 which exist in both styles of the ordinary bird-cage hooks.
I claim as my improvement-- A new article of manufacture, consisting of the plate A, hook B, brace C, and boss D, all combined to produce a neat and durable birdcage hook, as herein shown and described.
Witnesses: JOHN BRADBURY.
