Description

M. NAGY.'
BOTTLE OPENING DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED FEB. 24. 1915.

, To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MICHAEL NAGY, a. citizen of the United States of America, residing at'Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle-Opening Devices, of which the following is a'specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in bottle opening devices.
The primary object of the invention is the, provision of an inexpensive and simple device for readily removing the metallic seal or stopper from the top of'a bottle, the device being so designed for employment removably attached to a stationary support or readily carried within the pocket.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a simple and inexpensive cap or cork remover for bottles bein of small size and flattened formation readlly adapting the same to be carried in the pocket, the same however being adaptable for removable attachment to a wall or other statibolnary support whenever found so desira e.
With these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and then claimed.
In the drawings forming a part of this application and in which like'designating characters refer to corresponding parts 1 throughout the several views :Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device illustrated as mounted upon a su porting post, a portion of a bottle being i ustrated by dotted lines with its sealin'g'cap operatively positioned with respect thereto. Fig. 2 is a front 'elevational view thereof, and Fig. 3 is a perspectiveview of the detachable portion of the device removed from its sup-port.
- .The invention broadly consists in an oval shaped flattened metallic operating plate having a perforation 11 therethrough and adapted to be removably supported by a plate 12 on a support 13 by means ofspaeed lugs 14 between which the said plateis positioned, a retaining spring cotter 15 extending through the lugs 14 and through the said plate perforation 11. The said plate is Specification of Letters Patent.

engage beneath the metallic cap or seal such as 17 of the bottle 18 as best illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings b dotted lines, the face portion of the cap 1; being fulcrumed by frictionally engaging the same against a heel 19 of the plate 10 which is oppositely arranged thereon with respect to the toe- 16.
It will be noted that the plate 10 has a straight edge 21 at the side thereof adjacent the heel 19, which edge flatly engages the plate 12 when the plate 10 is operatively arranged between the lugs 14 thereon while the toe 16 is at the outer corner of the plate 10, being the lower corner thereof when the said plate is so operativ'ely positioned with respect to the plate 12.
A finger opening or hole is provided through the plate 10 of sul iicient size to readily receive the finger of the operator and designed for ready employment when the plate 10 is detached from the support 12, such as during the times that the plate 10 is carried ready for use in the pocket of the owner. The operation at such times it will be understood is imilar to that described in connection witli the plate 10 when the same is rigidly mounted, the finger however being inserted through the hole 20 for holds ing the plate 1'0 with its'toe 16 engaging under the cap of the bottle andwith the heel 19 resting against the cap, whereby the cap is readily removed from the bottle by force. The plate 10 is reversible upon. the support 12 so that the operating-claw foot 16 may be positioned at the, too ofthe device when desired. V 1
It will thus be apparent that an inexpensive and strong cap remover for bottles removable attachment to a bar, wall, post, or any other similar support.
While the form of the invention herein shown and described is what is believed to be the preferable embodiment thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes maybe made in the form, proportion and-details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
What I claim as new is 0 .A bottle cap remover comprising a plate provided at one end with a cap engaging claw and a heel against which a bottle cap is fulcrumed, the said claw extending e1- htly beyond the heel, the plate having the plate in rigid relation thereto, the relay 1 I a ger opening enabling the use of the tive position of the claw and heel causing a plate when held in the hand, and having an bottle to assume an upright position during 10 opening to receive a pivot pin for mounting the operation of removing a. cap.
' 5 the plate-on a support, the plate havin a In testimony whereof I aifix my signastraight edge spaced rearwardly of the V turee. ge opening to engage the support and hold MICHAEL; NAGY'.
