Description
P. KELLER? TIP FOR GAS BURNERS.
APPLICATION FILE-D AuG.5. 1916..

FIQ.
PETER KELLER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
TIP FOR GAS-BURNERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. '7, 1916.
Application filed August 5, 1916. Serial No. 113,326.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER KELLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tips for Gas- Burners, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide agas burner tip simple and cheap in construction, and more effective in the discharge and combustion of the gas thus obtaining the maximum of illumination with a minimum of gas consumption.
The invention is based upon the novelty of the features hereinafter described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and in the claim.
Figure l is a central sectional view taken on lines 11 of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the tip.
A represents the shell, or body of my tip made from any suitable material, but preferably from aluminum, the lower portion B of the body being slightly tapered to make it easily adjusted within the burner. The upper portion of the tip C, is so constructed as to provide a raised ring or neck D, which completely encircles the top of the tip C; the inner top surface of said ring or neck being concaved, or dished as at E, which forms a circular chamber, or reservoir F,
and having an elongated slot or opening G, for the passage of gas.
In operation, as the gas flows into and through the tip, the reservoir F in the neck D, will form a storage for a quantity of gas until the same has become thoroughly superheated by reason of the flame in which state it commingles with that portion of the gas which passes through the central part of the tip and through the opening G and produces a highly combustible mixture, the ring, or neck D, becoming very hot, will continue to superheat a large portion of the gas consumed so long as the flame remains.
In practice, I have found that it is very essential that the ring, or neck D, shall extend completely around the top of the tip, thereby completely encircling the flame.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A gas burner tip consisting of a hollow body or shell, provided with a raised ring or neck completely encircling the top of said tip, the top surface of said ring or neck having an elongated slot and being concaved and forming a reservoir or circular chamber.
