tion is to provide-an improved, simple, ef-- ficient and practical toy of this kind, which creates a noise, when blowing the same, and when blown, the air passing therethrough fills a paper bag (which may be provided with interior and exterior advertisements) attached to one endof the toy, subsequently to which the bag may be bursted, thereby creating a loud report.
In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations, falling within the scope of what is claimed.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, and claimed.
In the drawings :Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the improved toy constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the same on line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 2.
. which is provided with a conical enlarge,
Referring more especially to the drawings 1 designates a tubular member, one end of ment 2, which tapers toward the body of the tubular member. Secured in a depression 3 of the conical enlargement by means of the pin 4 is a shell 5, having a valve opening 6 at one end and being opened at the other'end as at 7. A spring tensioned valve 8 cooperates with the valve opening 6, so as to check or retain the air, that may be blown into the paper bag 9, which is secured orclamped tothe conical enlargement by the disk ring 10, which is wedged on the conical enlargement at diametrically opposite points thereof. It will be noted that the larger end of the conical portion ex,

tends into thebag. A suitable tone reed, designated as a whole by the numeral 11, is fitted nto the end of the tubular member 1, opposite the conical enlargement. This tone reed comprises the tubular member 12 havmg the shoulder 13 (which engages the smaller end of the tubular member 1 to limit the insertion of the part 12) and the vibrating tone blade 14, which is secured at 15 in any suitable manner to the'tubular part 12, and lies substantially across the passage at one end of the member 12.
It is the object of this invention that the exterior surfaces 0:" bags should be provided with advertisements, and advertising circulars on the interior of the bag, as shown at 18 in Fig. 2, and such toys to begiv'en away by grocery stores, shoe stores, and department stores and the like, so as to advertise-such firms and articles sold thereby, and at the same time create amusement for the children.
To use the toy, it is the object to blow through the tubular member 1, thereby making a noise with the reed 11, the air automatically opening the check valve, and entering the bag. After the bag is filled with air, operator grasps the" tubular member 1 close to the disk ring 10, wherebythe other end of the bag may bd mashed toward the conical enlargement, bursting the same, which will cause a loud report, owing to the air suddenly escaping subsequently to the sudden compression of the air.
The invention having been set forth what is claimed as new and useful is 1. In an article of manufacture, the combination of a tubular member having a check valve in one end and a tone reed secured in the opposite end, of a paper bag detachably clamped to the end having the check valve, whereby as air passes through the tubular member, the tone reed creates a noise and the bag is filled with air, which bag may be subsequently bursted.
2. In an article of manufacture, the combination of a tubular member having a conical enlargement at one end and a tone reed secured in the opposite end, of a check valve in the conical enlargement, a bag, through 100 the open end of which the conicalenlarge- In testimony whereof I have signed my 7 ment. is inserted, a; disk ring to clamp the name to this specification in the presence of sides of the open end of the bag on the conitwo subscribin witnesses.
