Specification of Letters Patent.

- To all whom itmay concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT L. BUCKNAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cache Junction, in the county of Cache and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Leather- Polishing Pastes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact dscription of the inv'ention,such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to leather polishing pastes, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a paste for use in polishing shoes which will not be injurious to leather, and which will receive a high polish in a very short space of time by using the ordinary polishing cloth.
The foregoing and other ob ects may be attained by' means of the paste made and formed as herein described.
In carrying out my invention, I take sixteen (16) ounces of carnauba wax, six (6) ounces of castile soap, and six (6) ounces of ni osin. These ingredients are placed in su cient water to form a gallon. The
castile soap may be shaved and the wax may be also shaved or cut into small pieces. it is cooled to form a paste, and the paste is then boxed and is ready for use. This paste may be applied to boots or shoes or to leather with a brush, and can be quickly polished by the ordinary polishing cloth, making a hard and permanent surface which will not be injurious to the leather.
Various changes in the proportions of the ingredients may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claims.
What is claimed is 1. The herein described process which consists in mixing carnauba wax, sixteen (16) ounces, castile soap six (6) ounces, nigrosin, six (6) ounces with sufiicient water to form a gallon of the mixture, boiling the mixture for several hours and thickening the mixture during the boiling thereof by the addition of two (2) more ounces of castile soap and two (2) more ounces of nigrosin to form a paste and cooling the mixture.
