This invention relates to an improved shipping crate or coop, and an object of the invention is to provide av device of this nature, which is simple, efficient, practical in construction, and consists of an improved frame having wire bonds or rods, so arranged as to hold the parts of the frame securely and firmly together. y

In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed.

The invention comprises further features and combinations of parts, as hereinafter claimed.

In the drawings z-Figure 1 is a view in perspective showing the frame of the crate or coop in dotted lines, and illustrating the wire bonds or rods for tying or securing the parts of the crate or coop together in full lines. Fig. 2 is a view in perspective of the crate or coop showing the frame in full lines. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a sectional view on line 4-4 of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 5-5 of Fig. 2.

Referring more especially tothe drawings, 1 and 2 designate the opposite longitudinal sides of the crate or coop consisting of the longitudinal bars 3, Vwhereas 4 and 5 designate the ends of vthe crate or coop consisting of the transverse end bars 6, whereas 7 denotes the centrally arranged partition consisting of the transverse bars 8. The ends of the end and central bars 6 and 8 are arranged between the ends and between the central portions of the longitudinal side bars 3, asshownat 9 and *10;

The bottom 11V of the crate or coop consists of the longitudinal side rails 12 and the transverse end rails 13, the ends of the transverse rails 13 engaging upon the ends of the longitudinal rails 12. Secured upon the flanges 15 and 18 are the bottom boards 19, thereby completing thebottom 11 of the coop or crate.

The top y2() of the crate consists of the bars or strips 21 and 22, and hingedly connected 4at 23 to one of the bars 22 are the closures 24, whichV may be held locked by any suitable means, .not shown. By opening the. closures, accessmay be had to the two compartments formed by the `partition 7. l

TheV longitudinal rails 12 upon their under surfaces areprovided .with longitudinal grooves 25, which receive the wires or b onds 26, which arey bent at 27 to form .the right-angled upwardly extending parts 28,

which extend vertically through the adja-- cent ends of the longitudinal and end bars v3 and 6, and through the outer corner bars angled portions 28 are bent laterally'to form the parts 29, which lie against and are embedded partially into the upper surfaces of the outer corner strips or bars 21 and 22, to insure holding said bars 3 and v6l securely together.

' Extending vertically throughthe rails 12 centrally and through the ends of the bars 8 are wires, bonds or rods 30. The lower ends ofthe bonds, wires or. rods 3() are turned to form eyes 31, which receive the wires or bondings or rods 26. A shipping crate comprising the longitudinal sides and end parts consisting of the longitudinal and transverse bars having their ends arranged alternatelybetween vone another, a central partition consisting of transverse bars having their ends between the central portions of the longitudinal bars,

a bottom, a top, the bottom having longi-V tudinal side rails provided with grooves in their under surfaces, bonding wires 1n said grooves and having their ends bent upwardly and. extending through the adjacent ends of the end vtransverse bars and the ends of the embedded inthetop, vertical bonding wires having eyes at their lower ends to receive the central portions of the bonding wires in the grooves,'said verticalbonding wires passing through'the central portions of the longitudinal bars ofthe sides and v'through the ends ofthe bars ofthe central partition and having their upper ends .provided with lateral portions overlying and being partially embedded in the top, the lower transverse end bars having strips secured thereto which are wider than'the lower bars of the ends, thereby forming lianges, the lower'bar of the transverse :ba-rs of the `partition having a strip` secured thereto, which strip is wider than the lower bar of the partition forming opposite lateral flanges, and'bottom boards secured to said flanges.
