To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS M. S EENEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bufialo, in the county of Erie, State of New 5 York, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Carriers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,

such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in package and article CHJIIGIS. and part1cularly to devices used for carrying ma l bags,

The principal object of the invention is to provide-a simple device for attachment to the body of a person from which the bag or basket is suspended so that the weight of thebag will be moreevenly distributed on both shoulders Other objects and advantages will be ap-- parent from the following description, when taken in connection'with the accompanying drawings. d

In the drawings: Figure 1- is a perspective View of the device in use. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the device, removed from the wearer; Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 4. is a rear elevation.

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, 10 represents a belt which is arranged to be secured about the body of the wearer just under the arms, this beltbeing provided with a-buckle 11 foradjusting front central portion is a ring 12 to which are secured the forward-ends of a pair of straps 13, these straps being passed over the shoulders and secured to the rear of the belt at the sides thereof. The rear ends of 'both of the straps 13 have depending loops 14 in which are loosely carried rings 15 The straps 13 are also provided with ad usting buckles 13. The rearof the belt is provided with two series of openings 16 which receive the bolts 17 carried by the straps 13.

There are thus provided three rings one at the center inthe front, and one on each side toward the rear, enabling ,either a right-handed or lefthanded person to easily suspend the bag fromthe device. In each instance the single ring 1n front is used in connection with one of the side ones.

In the use of the ordinary postmens mail bag, there is a single strap which passesover the shoulder on the sideat which the bag is suspended. The weight of the bag is all on this one shoulder, causing the person to keep this shoulder raised in an effort to retain the strap on the shoulder. This shoulder, in time, becomes higher than the other shoulder. In a great many cases thepostman must use one hand to assist in retain- .ing the strap on his shoulder, thus making The downward pull of the bag exerts presequally distributing-the weight of the bag, and making it more comfortable for the postman, as he will have both hands free to extract the mail from the bag, or use .one hand for carrying an umbrella. With the left-handed person, it will be understood that the bag will be suspended from the rings from the otherside of the'device. It will,"of course, be understood that gthe device may be used with equal eflectiveness in carliying a fruit or cotton pickers basket or sac What is claimed is A-device for suspending a bag from the shoulders of a person comprising a belt adapted for encircling the body of the wearer, shoulder straps having their rear ends adjustably secured tothe rear of the sure on the opposite shoulder, thus' more i belt, a-bag attaching ring carried by the rear end of each of the straps and depending below the belt, "and a bag attaching ring carried by the ends of the belt and lying in front of the center of the Wearersbody, said last-mentionel ring having the remaining ends of the shoulder straps connected to the upper part and having the lower part unobstructed for the attachment of abag hook.
