l'aten'ted fine., o?, idillio Application filed March 18, 1316. "Serial $5,042,
i fed by manually-operated means.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a sanitary shaving brush carrying its own supply of liquid shaving soap and equipped with simple, inexpensive, and highly efficient-*mechanism 'for feeding any desired amount of liquid soap to the bristles of a brush.
A further object of my invention is to reduce the number of .parts in a device of the kind described. To this end, I provide a discharge spout at oneend or a hollow handle for dispensing soap, a valve controlling the flow oi' soap through this spout, and, at the opposite end of said handle I provide :in actuating push-button for the proper operation of the valve.
Another object of my invention is to pro vide, in a device of the kind described,v a soap-dispensing handle provided with a filler opening at one end, a soap feeding mechanism at another end, and with a closure for the filler opening Which assists, at the same time, .to operate said soap-feedingl mechanism.
A still further object of my mechanism is to provide, in a device of the character describedfa soap-dispensing handle having a filler opening at one en d and a transparent cl/'osure for said opening so as to make said filler opening also a sight opening, said closure being removable to `give access to the interior of said handle and also providing a push button as a means of' controlling a valve carried by the handle at the brushv ghandle at vone end so as to close thel same and also providing a means for anchoring the bristles of the brush and for feeding soap tiereinto. i
W' ith the above and further objects in view my invention consists in the combination, arrangement, and details of construction disclosed in the drawings and specirieation and then more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
ln the drawings wherein similar reference characters designate similar parts throughout the respective views, Figure l is a longitudinal sectionalvievv of my invention, llip;n 2 is a. rear end elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a. front view ot the cup with the brush removed, and Fig. 4l is a crossesection taken on line l-l of Fig.' l. 4
'Referring to the drawings which are merely illustrative of my invention there is shown a handle-shaped sleeve l 'formed at one end .vith an offset or turned edge Q which is provided with a threaded filler opening through which shaving soap in preferably liquid form is introduced to ill the barrel of the sleeve. This handle or sleeve 1 made or' any suitable material sach as sheet metal and has a Ioracket 4 formed integrally thereupon in a plane with said filler opening, this bracket being of any approved lorm so to provide a portion arranged to project radially of' said handle; l prefer tov enlarge the threaded edge of said opening so as to provide a col lar threaded Jfor the reception of a pushlontton holder in the form of a ring' or annw lar member The bracket extends as a part of this collar, and said ringhas external screw threads by moans ol' which it may be screwed into the threaded filler collar 6 and be supported thereby. rlhe bracket l inclndes a preferably rightangular portion or bearing 'Y extending transversely in said handle against which portion 7 bears one end of a spring 8 coiled around a valve rod D passing through a guide opening in said portion 7 so as to be' guided in movement thereby. The `opposite end of the spring S bears against a head 9 screwed on one ond of rod 9 So as to canso the conical valve 11 formed at one end oi' the rod 9 to fnmly engage the corresponding! y shaped valve sont l1 formed upon a tubular projection or 'push button moves, a feeder itting in and :means controlled by said push-button und adapted to operate seid valve.
ll. il device of' the kind described cosieisting of e liollov' liendle :forme-d with a Ll'we` l ed opening at one end, an inwardly pr ing,v bracket formed on seid handle, e threaded into seid opening, en outer li" on seid ring md engaging seid lier. hold Suid ring in position, e slideble button in seid ring, limiting stops et posite ends oi' seid ring between which e onseid handle and having mire sent, e e adapted to engage seid seat e rod secure@ at one end to said .f'zilve, s rod passing tl'lrougjli said bracket and bearing against seid puslvbutton, :i sp g5 coi around said rod und bearing u end against Suid bracket and adept ,d to Cause seid button to engage one o said stops to enueo said valve to engage seid. seat..
ln devine described the eonibinin tion of e hollow handle, said bundle being formed with n threaded opening and with e breelet projecting in advance oi` seid( opening, e valveeopereting roo. operutin Fa in seid bracket, e ring threaded into ,-,.`r threaded opening, en external flange formed on said ring and engaging said handle mid foriniirg` means for unsorevvingseid ring, piston sliding in @eid ring and having e peripheral pecking engaging the inner well of said ringend-serving tlie only closure for seid opening, :L head on seid rod bearing against said piston, and e spring surrounding said `rod end engaging seid bracket at one end and Seid head at its opposite end.
6. ln e device of the kind described, in combination e brush, a bollenT nendle, ineens for seeuringsaid brush in seid. liendle, '.3 n lle being formed with n threaded open-I ing, ring threaded into seid openir internal flange formed end el' d ring', :in externelh, in
