To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH J. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cambridge, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a certain new and useful Pneumatic Blowin Machine, of which the following is a speci cation, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
This invention has reference to improvements in neumatic machines for blowing dust and lint sidewise from the path of movement of the machine and adapted particularly foruse in mills in which looms and other machines are fixedly arranged along aisles whereby the moving of one of these machines along one aisle may eflect the blowing of dust and lint under the fixed machines into the next adjacent aisles to be gathered up in a suitable manner.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple, durable and eflicient machine of this nature preferably having a traction driven fan and mouths for delivering air currents laterally.
Other objects of theinvention will appear from the following description.
The invention consists in the novel pneumatic blowing machine hereinafter to be more fully described and pointed out in the claim.

Fig. 3, represents a front view of the machine, part of the arm carrying the caster wheel and part of the mouth piece being broken away and the location of the machines from which dust and lint may be blown by this blowing machine being indicated.

In factories generally and particularly in cotton mills looms and other machines adapted to operate on material are usually fixedly arranged along aisles and it is desirable from time to time to remove dust, lint and other foreign matter frombeneath said fixed machines. In carrying my invention into practice I have had the object of providing a simple and effective machine adapted to be driven or moved along one of said aisles and adapted to deliver air under pressure laterally whereby the dust, lint or other matter accumulated under said fixed machine could be driven from beneath the fixed machine into the next adjacent aisles Where such matter conveniently could be gathered for removal.
As shown in the drawings, in its preferred form, my improved blowing machine comprises a frame having the side plates 5, 5 having the recessed wheel receiving compartments 6, 6 and the forward extensions 7, 7 connected by the cross member 8 from Which depends the arm 9 carrying the caster wheel 10; thecompartments 6, 6 being connected by the cross member 11. which at their upper ends are connected with the cross bar 13 and with the bent members 14, 14 of the uprights 15, 15 the latter of which are mounted on the extensions 7, 7 of the side plates 5, 5. Pivotally mounted on studs 16, 16 of the standards 12, 12 are the handle side arms 17', 17 having the handle 18 and notches 19, 19 adapted to engage the pins 20, 20 of'the members 14, 14 so that when this machine is out of use the handle arms may be swung down to the sides of members 14, 14;
Mounted on the cross member 11 is the fan chamber 21 having the outlet 22 which communicates with the mouth piece 23 carried by the cross member 8 and having the transversely extending outlets or months 24, 24 adapted to deliver at the sides of the machine forward of the wheels thereof. At the juncture of the diverging outlets 24, 24 is journaled the shaft 25 having, inside said mouth piece, the valve or damper 26 and, at its outer end, the handle or lever 27, whereby said damper. 26 may be swung to close either of said outlets 24, 24 or said damper 26 may be positioned vertically to permit air to pass out of both of said outlets. The means for holding said damper 26 in its vertical position may be the frictional furnished with the pinion 30 which is driven by the large gear 31 of the rotatable shaft 32 having the pinion 33 which is driven by the gear 34 of the shaft 35 journaled in a bearing of the gear case cover and having at its outer end the sprocket 36.

Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent: I
A pneumatic blowing machine of the nature described comprising a frame provided with side plates having wheel receiving recesses, a shaft journaled in bearings of said side plates and having traction wheels positioned in said recesses and a sprocket located between said side plates, across member mounted between sald side plates, a fan casing mounted on said cross member and having a gear case, an air delivery pipe extending from said fan casing, a mouth piece communicating with said delivery pipe and terminating in diverging nozzles, a rotary fan in said fan casing and having a shaft o extending into said gear case, multiplying drive gears for said fan shaft positionedin said gearcase one of whichgears has a shaft extending outside of said gear case and having a sprocket, and a chain connecting the latter sprocket with the sprocket of the traction wheel shaft.
