INVENTOR f w \k- I BY ATTORNEY RUDOLPH 1E. MARTIN, 01E MASON, TEXAS.

iaeaiee.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that T, RUDOLPH E. MARTIN,- a citizen of the United States, residin at Mason, in the county of Mason and tate of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Prodnected sections forming the'pole, said sections serving to support conductors for car-r rying the electric current-to the operative end-ofthe pole. I I
A fu her object of my invention is to provide a device of the 'abovecla'ss with which a new and novel electric circuit is used reducing the number of conductors necessary for use in connection with a device of this character. With the above and other objects in view my invention resides preferably in the con struction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth in the specification as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective form of my invention showing a container having a source of electrical energy associated therewith. Fig. 2 is a semi-diagrammatic view of my invention, showing the prod pole in plan view. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional v1ew taken on the line 33 in Fig. 2 looking in the direction of the arrows. Fig. 4 is'a similar view taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. .3 looking in the direction of the arrow.
Similar reference characters designate similar parts throughout the various views of the drawing.
In the drawings wherein the preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated,
l[ provide a prod pole embodying a pole 1 bifurcated substantially throughout its length to provide detachably connected sections 2 and 3, said section 1 having an enlarged head 4 on one extremity thereof in whlch are mounted a lurality of circuit terminals 5, said circu1t terminals having.
connecting means on their inner extremities Specification of Letters Patent.

comprising nuts 6, said nuts being mounted in enlarged recesses 7 in the head 4 and section 3. The section 3 is detachably connected with section 2 by means of screws or the .like 8. It is to be understood that sections 2 and 3 are to be formed of some insulatmg material and may be formed of wood if so desired. The section 3 is pro:
vided in one face with a plurality of longitudmally extending grooves 9 in which conductors 10 are disposed, said conductors leading from a suitable source of high tension-pulsating electric current. The outer extremities of. the circuit terminals 5 are sharpened, and project beyond the end of the pole 1 for contact with an animals body. The circuit which I have preferred to employ in connection with my improved prod pole comprisesthe conductors 11, 12 and 13 embracing respectively a source of electric current such as a battery 14, the' primary 15 of an inductive coil and. the secondary 16 of said coil. A vibrator of any desired type may be interposed in the conductors 12 and 11 forming the primary circuit and is. designated .17.
It will be noted that the conductors 13' and11 extend to the exposed circuit terminals, the conductor 12 being connected to the conductor 11' at the point designated 18. A suitable circuit closer 14 is interposed in the conductor 12 in order to close the primary 15 of the induction coil mentioned.
In Fig. 1 a suitable container 20 is shown, said container 20 having binding posts 21 on one side thereof to which conductors 10 (designated 11, 12 and 13 in Fig. 2) are connected. A suitable strap 22 is provided for supportin the container on the body of a person usmg the prod pole.
In use the circuit closer 19 is depressed to the closed position causing current to flow from the source 14 through the primary winding 15, conductor 12 and returning through the conductor 11 to said source. This will cause the vibrator 17 to be actuated inducing a current in the secondary terminals 5. In using the device the animal is touched with the terminals 5 which will efiectively cause said animal to move without injuring it.
From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it
is thought that a clear and comprehensive understanding of the construction, opera tion and advantages of my invention may be readily gatheredand while I have shown and described the same as embodying a specific structure I reserve the right to make changes therein which do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention a as claimed.-
1 claima 1. A prod pole, including a rod formed from a pair of detachable sections, a head formed on one end of one of the sections carrying exposed circuit terminals, said' head providing for step means whereby the remaining section may be held thereupon, and means for connecting said sections.
2. A prod pole, comprising a pair of detachably connected sections, one of said sections carrying a head thereon, said head providing for stop means for the remaining section, circuit terminals associated with the head, means for connecting said sections,
and a primary and secondar circuit the former embracing a circuit c oser and the latter the said circuit terminals.
3. A prod pole, includin a rod formed to provide a pair of detachab e sections, one of I RUDOLPH E. MARTIN. Witnesses WALTER M. MARTIN, W, E. JoRnAN.
